Well there is not much out there then. Just as i thought. And for the price they better be good..
But why not go over 10mm? Is there a draw back going for going larger for full range DD? Or is it just manufacuring headache?
Not ok sure on price.
It’s almost like quantity of BA drivers. More doesn’t necessarily mean better. It’s about implementation.

While i have not heard TOTL ba iems. All the mid-fis i have heard sound too artificial and forced sounding to me. And im not talking about bass here. DD sound a lot more natural in all FR personally. And then comes bass where there is nothing to compare as far as i am concerned.

That said though. I would love to own Legend X which hopefully would show better side of ba while having DDs to sort out bass. I would actually like to see a comparison between Rah and Legends

I haven't given much thought to the R3 Phase but I wonder if they could have the biggest bass of all the imr's. So far altho I love the low end of the Rahs I haven't found the low end as impactful as the Atens.

I've pre-ordered the halcyon. I'm very interested to see what electrostat brings to the party. I'm going to ride the imr train next year and see where it goes.

It's not a long window to order, especially at what is an expensive time of year for many people. I do wonder how many will jump on this one.

I wonder if the elecrostats will be better without a crossover.

The Halcyon has been updated to also include a Piezo ceramic driver.... Whatever that is dedicated for.

So it has 4 things in it now. Instead of the planar unit in the Rah, it swaps with 2 electrets.

Every IMR IEM has a piezo ceramic driver...

Yup - the piezo is bonded to the beryllium DD, so all fine as part of the same driver "unit".

Spoke to Bob yesterday - he said the Halcyon isn't better or worse than the Rah, just "different" and with more potential tuning options. He mentioned the change of venting at the back of the driver gives a subtle but audible difference between the three different back plate vent options.

There was an email to us much much earlier, it had the Halcyon listed without it. Hence it was quoted above.

R3 Phase is actually really interesting. I just dont get it a bit.
Quad array as in DD/piezo+DD/piezo?
I bet its not going to be 15mm too.
Anyone has any idea on how its going to work?

I've never heard of this reverse phase configuration myself, but it's definitely going to be 2x 15mm drivers given he's using the Aten drivers.

Folks,

it would be great if we could stick to the Rah in this thread, and maybe move the R3s discussions to their own thread?

And speaking of the Rah, how is everyone going with them? Any changes in your favourite filter configurations? My Rah are fantastic, currently on the Pink/Blue filters :)
