IMR R3 Halcyon, R3 Phase, R3 Semper - Discussion / Impressions Thread

Wow we get the Semper half a year early! And then what are the plans for the 2nd half of the year?

Shame about the Phase as that did intrigue me a lot. Will probably keep the Aten now as my bass cannons thought the Phase may surpass them.

Cancelling the Phase makes me wonder if the other PB's will be Semper and Halcyon variants & how they would be different.

I was thinking originally that the PB's would be Rah, Halcyon & Phase with the upgraded drivers going into the Semper.

I haven't received an email prompt to pay and continue over my earlier deposit. Hopefully I was included.

I preordered early and paid the £100 deposit. I didnt know if that early one still stood so I ordered and paid for another one. So I've probably got 2 pre ordered. I'll shoot Bob an email when I get a chance. Seems more real now I've paid for it. Excited.

Oh believe me you are in for a treat. I trust Bob as many do.
Yeah, a few years ago I would have worried about spending £££ on IEMs, then I found the R1... then the Zenith... they've completed changed my perspective on what's possible in that space. They bring so much joy to my everyday commute to work. Spend money on the important things in your life! Like pillows, headphones, maybe a TV :D

Semper will be nice, but that is assuming there is no complications. Like so many drivers making the same sound that we start hearing an echo of repetition.
There are no guarantees.

The queastion is how much do you trust IMR. Yes there is no guarantees that me or you will like it due to different preferences. But i highly doubt he will release and iem, twice the price of his previous flagship, without refining it and being confident in that product.

If only halcyon was a CIEM, this would be no brainer to order :frowning2:
Ever since experiencing IMR bass, I am so hesitant on ordering other IEM cuz I freaken love IMR bass they are so good. (+ great bang for buck with royalty code)
But I really want to try CIEM, cuz of its fits and longevity of the listening session. (Anyone recommend? I got my eyes out for itsfit fusion or maybe fearless s8f or s8z)
Well, Bob said he wants to experiment with CIEMs at some point, but no idea when he plans offering a finished product like that.
Edp? Anyone got any idea?

Edit: He added a 10mm planar + dynamic driver closed iem to his store. As a mass production model. Not important for me as a Rah owner.
It will be a smaller form factor IEM, similar in shape to the Shure models. All aluminum shell with only 4 grams of weight per side, perfect for on the go use. Also the best isolation and least leakage from all the IMR models.

Very interesting in my opinion, I mostly don't want to take the RAH into the Bus/Train, due to leakage and mediocre isolation.
Oh my god! I will get Semper for my birth day
Same, if they arrive until the end of May ^^
That is actually a very good point. Might be worth waiting for PB One version of Semper.
So far there is no indication that there will be such a version. Since the Semper will be a very low production run already, I doubt there is room for a private build.
I am actually curious what kind of sound would halcyon provide and would having planar in it can make an improvement for the hefty £1100.00
Well, just my guessing, but with the pre order and loyalty discount we will end up somewhere around 600 pounds, which is fine.

There is no guarantee for that, like with any headphone you buy without hearing it first. But with IMR you can easily return them during the first 2 weeks, so i think we can buy with confidence.

Also because of him cancelling the Phase, due to it not working/sounding as he wants, I am sure the Semper will not disappoint.

@Infoseeker I meant to ask you about the ROG Phone II. How is it as a source? You’ve mentioned that you like it better than dedicated amps for the Rah.

I am mushing through London commute with Rah like there is no tomorrow.
I do nee to listen a bit louder. But not at stupid levels. I mean this hell hole is probably idling at 80db at night so a bit of extra volume for 2hrs a day is an ear massage when loving in a city
And last time i gave rah to my wife to listen on high volume it did not seem it leaked music bad. And we were in a quiet room.

As far as Semper price go. Improvements will definately have diminishing returns.
If its what Bob said it is - a TOTL model, it is meant to be listened with higher end source and quality music.

If you spend 1k on iems and expect it to make youtube or spotify sound good on your iphone - congradulations, you just made a purchase of a year.
(Not that i said someone is planning on doing it)

It is using nothing more than the very competent modern dac included with the Quallcomm 855 SoC. It does not gives me hiss, and is really musical instead of harsh sound compared to my e1da 9038s.

The bass seems to behave best off my phone. Transitions of sound decaying feels fast.

The phone gives the best out of box sound. But the Hiby R6 Pro has settings that can alter all that and aproach it.

There is not quantitative data in the jack's output power level. But since it doesn't hiss with iems, it probably detects and adjusts output.
