So far I have only used the directly connected usb drive. I've never had an NAS but recently by son told about his use of an RPi as a NAS. He is going to coach me through the setup so I can try mine as a NAS. If I get it working and can access via the Stream I will post my results.

Please do, we look forward to your findings. ZEN Stream used with a NAS would provide some extra context to those into playback based on such storages, that's for sure

Not sure if anyone can help with this. My intention with buying Stream was to link up to a DDC. However I have discovered although the USB output works fine, the SPDIF emits a loud squeal when the music is paused.

Any advice welcome!

I use and have used mine in the past with a Singer SU-2 although it's currently not connected that way.

Which Spdif are you referring to? Out of the ZS or out of the DDC?

Let me know I'll do some testing depending on your issue.

Out of ZS via SPDIF. I know DDC works via SPDIF as I tested with CD player......

In fact I thought DDC's were only for USB in then all other are outputs? Perhaps I need more understanding of higher end DDC's...

I have tried every way I can think of to make my ZS lose it's drive, on off, faking power brown out, turning it off while playing, I left it unplugged overnight, I am at a loss to duplicate it.

So at this point I would chalk it up to gremlins, buggers will getcha' every time,

I replaced SSD with flash drive. Not had any issues since. Whether that cured the issue, or the last reset I dont know, but not gonna mess with it!

@Vangelo Did you have the USB port of the ZS occupied at the time of the squeling?

I read on your other post in the Audio GD thread that you were using Tidal, and I do remember an issue last year of Tidal Doing this while in pause mode, it was not releasing the stream per say, leading to a squealing sound, but that was long fixed I thought.
