iFi Zen Stream: Setup, Tips, Tricks...

Are you saying the files are gone from the SSD or just not showing in the interface?

Not sure if I asked but what Power supply are you using? what voltage?
No, files still there, just drive is not being recognised.
I am using Temple Audio Supercaps power supply 12V.

I have managed to get the drive back doing a series of reboots and restarts with drive plugged in & not plugged in. Not sure what made it start working. If some one knows of a set procedure I can try?

Well I'm glad the files were still there at least.

When you say reboots, are you referring to full hard reboots, using the button on back?
Or soft reboots from within the app itself?

Asking for my knowledge, as I think I remeber having something like that last year, and doing a couple resets from within the app was how they got it back, ...

I think?! 😂

Cheers!!

Appreciate the help.

I tried to avoid the reset button........the procedures I tried included:

1. Restarting Stream from the app
2. Rebooting the Tablet
3. Forcing stop to iFi app
4. Switching Stream off/on from front button
5. Turning power supply on & off
6. Reconnecting & disconnecting SSD
7. Various combination of above

One of the above combos worked....but not sure which.

Interesting thing is ifi.local has never worked for me on my Opera Browser. Today I tried with Microsoft Edge. Bingo. Next time I lose drive will try this.

Thanks so much for that, I am mainly a mac user so a couple things I am going to do when I get a little time is try the Opera browser, perhaps it's a PC thing, and report it to iFi.

Also will put files on an SSD see if I can duplicate what happened to you by powering of, and your steps if I lose the drive.

Thanks for the help!!

Cheers!!

yah man.......works!
Awesome!!

Did you ever download the Stream-ifi app??

I think it should still be available? I have had it for a long time, since before they took it down. So I am wondering if it is still current and available.

Cheers!!

Got my usb disc working. Reformatted from NTFS to FAT32 and reloaded the files. Seems to be ok now. Funny because it worked fine with my RPi with NTFS formatting.
Glad to hear it! I wish I could have helped quicker, but I have not had a new drive or any drive for that matter since I switched the ZS to point at my Roon Rock NAS.

..And I honestly remember having issues with that, If you know anything about that area perhaps you could make a post about how to point the ZS to a network Drive, as I believe it's a little different in what you type in to access it.

Or as usual I could be wrong, lol

Cheers!!

So far I have only used the directly connected usb drive. I've never had an NAS but recently by son told about his use of an RPi as a NAS. He is going to coach me through the setup so I can try mine as a NAS. If I get it working and can access via the Stream I will post my results.
All the best,
John
