Hi Ifi, I bought my ZEN DAC earlier this month. It has a serial number starting with 53040. I updated the firmware v.7 in it, which is named XU216. This probably means that it already contains a new 16-core XMOS chip. Will there be a firmware update that will enable the MQA decoder? Now work only as renderer. Thanks

@iFi audio I'm thinking of upgrading to the zen-Dac Signature, does it also have a V2 with the upgraded Xmos chip ?
Is there a date yet for a (5.2) Limoncello firmware that will work on the newer units as many prefer the more natual sound of (5.2)

That's correct, and we should have a firmware with MQA decoding available soon.

I believe ZEN Signature has the older one inside, but I'll double-check.

I have no new info about 5.2 at this time, but we're aware that this firmware is needed.

Will be software update with new diode colours for zen dac v1?Zgadza się i wkrótce powinniśmy mieć dostępne oprogramowanie z dekodowaniem MQA.
Wydaje mi się, że ZEN Signature ma starszą wersję w środku, ale sprawdzę dwukrotnie.
W tej chwili nie mam żadnych nowych informacji na temat 5.2, ale wiemy, że to oprogramowanie jest potrzebne.

Day 3 - DAC v2
I really wanted to be mad at ifi… god I really really want them to fix the stupid click, BUT, I have never listened to so much music and just loved it. I can listen for hours… everything is clean, lows resonate - highs are crystal clear an in no way sibilant or sharp….imaging and soundstage are open and present… combined with Zen CAN… easily the best listening I have ever had the privilege of.
Damn it.
I have NO idea what the secret sauce is…. It should be the same for v1.. but something is BETTER… yes I am aware it’s subjective, but the new DAC has got something going on that makes it… yah.
Damn it.
IFi, whatever that magic in the firmware is, I genuinely hope it translates back to v1. Everyone deserves listening to this.

That's what lower jitter, new XMOS and software optimization do
Enjoy

Hi, I have a Zen stack and there’s one thing that is bugging me: What does CAN stand for?
Class A ?
I Googled it but nothing…

Wow. This is a hard question.... Like the hardest question I have seen on the forum.Hi, I have a Zen stack and there’s one thing that is bugging me: What does CAN stand for?

That's it. I'm out.

Hmmm, based on pure speculation - the CAN might be a derivative of the older and more expensive Pro iCAN. One can imagine that the name of the more expensive product was chosen for its versatility and features.Hi, I have a Zen stack and there’s one thing that is bugging me: What does CAN stand for?

Then they decided to do a smaller cheaper amp (using some of the tech from the Pro iCAN). Now they had to keep the name similar, but lesser so they dropped the Pro and i and we're left with the CAN.
This story will be canon until @iFi audio refutes it. I don't make the rules.

I think that @doctorstrobe asked about our naming scheme.
If so, it's simple: CAN = cans/headphones.

I see what you did there. So... when's the fight night?

If that's the case then why is it CAN and not CANS. I detect a conspiracy.
