iFi ZEN DAC discussion + impression

Thanks for the quick answer!
Without delving into dozens of narrowly focused definitions, can you please tell me what the difference is?
Very short, in simple language.
My opinion only...

I have always liked the sound that the GTO filter gives, for me it seems to be a more "Analog" possibly "warmer" type of sound to it, I prefer it over other DAC sounds especially when they seem "Dry and Analytical" to me.

But I try never to tell people what they hear so, the best is to try both and see which one you prefer.

Hope that helps,

Cheers!!

Hello! I Have Air DAC...
What should happen when I connect an external power supply? I decided to try a regular 5V power supply first.
But the light doesn't light up. It only lights up when USB is connected.
How can you tell if the power supply is working?

You are right, need just to try :)

Could you please tell how to update iFi firmware on MacOS Sonoma 14.3.

I have an issue with both 7.4 and 7.4c

Thanks in advance
All instructions and information can be found on our Download Hub which is here...

Just had a quick look and 7.3 and 74. variants and for Mac are listed under the firmware section.

How can you tell if the power supply is working?
If the Green light is illuminated that indicates "external power supply" on the back then the unit is receiving "external power"

Please verify your PS is within the specs for the "Air DAC" to operate correctly.

Тhanks!
I tried several power supplies, there is a store near me with electrical goods.
So, some really make a noticeable noise. 5v 1 amp is noisy, 5v 2 amp is also noisy. But I didn’t hear any noise at 3 amps. Can noise depend on the number of amps?

I purchesed a 5V 1.2A Meanwell power supply. But sometimes my iFi Zen DAC v2 is stopping the sound until I turn it off and then back on again. Works perfectly from USB...My friend lent me his iFi iPower2 power supply and it works perfectly.
Why does it not work with the Meanwell power supply?
The iFi iPower is 5V 2.5A

Perhaps the meanwell is a bit short of the specs needed for the Zen Dac V2 being it's 1.2A

I will check what is required but this would be my logical thought process on this.

Cheers!!

Unfortunately, the problem was not with the cheap power supply. iFi iPower2 power supply also mutes the sound randomly. And I'm not the only one who seems to have a problem with it: link
works perfectly fine without external power supply
I would contact support to see if they have an answer for you, that was my best guess on the PS you mentioned.

Hopefully, they can point you to an answer for this issue.
