iFi micro iDSD Black-Label - In-Depth Review

@iFi audio After listening to a few more tracks, the change in sound signature of this amp is bugging me...
Aside from the soundstage, the newer 5.3c is inferior to the older 5.2 firmware in every single way. The midrange and bass improved dramatically, its making my supposed cool sounding HE560 feel so much warmer, and the bass texture improved dramatically.
I didn't spent much time with the old 5.2 at the time cuz i was still fiddling with the amp. After upgrading to 5.3c, i noticed that something was off, but i let it slide since i havent spent much time with this device after all, so the signature hasn't ingrained in my mind yet. Now after spending a few days with the new firmware and a overheating amp, and downgrading back to 5.2 i can feel the difference now.

What the hell is going on??

@iFi audio Hi, recently i've noticed that my micro idsd BL is running abnormally hot, its way above my room temp, possibly my own body temp on the shell. i was wondering if the culprit is the new firmware or not, so i downgraded from 5.30c to 5.2, and its running cooler once again, along with the return of the lukewarm and full fulfilling sound that has disappeared after the upgrade before. Whats going on with the new firmware i wonder? Is there any extra processing in the new firmware that cause overheating?
I'm not playing any mqe, just 24bit/96khz lossless and gaming.

Several bugs dealt with aside, Our 5.30C FW adds GTO filter.

Thanks for the good advice.
Knowing the WM1A would you say I will be happier with the iDSD Black?
soundwise yes, especially with headphones. The bl also is great with iems especially iems with dynamic drivers.

In this setup you'd still like to use a computer to listen to your music, right?

Never tried this combination but I believe that it should not be any problem with that - usually it drives perfectly everything you feed to it )
Just choose the right settings (gain, IEMatch on/off).
