Hi folks, I just switched from tidal to apple music and considering getting zen steam. Anyone who has tried apple music via chromecast? Is it lossless without downsampling? Thanks!

I just moved my ZS to France from CA. It was wired in CA, and I had no issues. Here in France, I have GB fiber, and it also works great wired, but that is impractical given the set-up, so I tried wifi. Unfortunately, under wifi I need to constantly restart the ZS or the interface freezes up (e.g. I can shutdown from the interface, but the music controls are inoperable).

It always connects to the 2.4G wireless band and the speed is always <80 mbps (often dropping to 20). My router has a 5G band, but the ZS doesn't seem to use it. I am sitting next to it using my iphone/ipad/laptop all of which get ≥300mbps via wifi (all on the 5ghz band). My question is: why is the ZS wifi so slow? I have the antenna installed, placed it on a top shelf, and have run the most recent update (which I though was supposed to address 5ghz connectivity).

Sorry to be long-winded, but I though the community here might have some suggestions.

Well, It could be a absolute ton of things causing it, so let's start simple Have you done a full power reset of the Modem, any routers, and extenders in the chain? Sometimes that is enough...

I better go on record right here and now that I do not believe that 5G is the cats meow, or all that , at least what people make it out to be. 5g stinks when it comes to whole house , in the same room, like an open basement sure go for it, on the next floor, I'll take 2.4 anyday, With that said...

I would honestly start right there, Everything in the chain off, powered back on and functional in proper order, not all off at once, and then back on at once! Give it a try and just see !!

Cheers!!

I have a related issue. I use a network with TP Link Deco M9s. One of the feature (or problem) of this mesh network is that there are no different SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, so my laptop and other devices connect to either of them. Now in Windows I can force the network card to connect to either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, but in the Zen Stream there is no option to force such settings, or even check which one it has connected to. Needless to say, I'm also facing connectivity issues.

The one thing you can do with a mesh network is make sure the proper things on the proper floor/area are connecting to the proper spot. I also have a mesh network, little eero's and I can do it by simply unplugging the other units until I'm connected to the one I desire.

Thanks for the quick replies! I have power-cycled everything multiple times. Also, I have switched back to a wired connection to make sure the problem goes away. I don't have a mesh wireless network. My ISP is Free.fr, and 'm using their "Freebox Pop" router (no other nodes/repeaters). I could buy my own router, and bypass theirs, but I'm only here sporadically, so it's not really worth it. It's a small apartment. I may just go ahead and run cable if I can't figure this out, but I'd really like to avoid it!

Ahhh, yes I understand, and there in lies the problem...

All devices are different, as my xfinity cable tech friend explained to me, what works for one does not work for another, and expected similar performance is a bit of a pipe dream...His words not mine lol.

My best suggestion would be ANY type of Router other than what they give you, that is also always the advice of my friend. Doesn't have to be expensive just decent is all.

In the meantime if you do have access to the company modem/router they gave you perhaps an app to see nearby possible channel interference would be helpful, and/or a channel change of your router to suit!

Thank you, will try this out!

For the 5GHz wifi you may want to check the channels. Different countries use different channels so you may need to force the router to a channel the ZS supports. I have previously had an issue where an EU spec device would not work on channels above 149.

Has anyone used HQPlayer on the Zen Stream? I want to try it in their trial version. If anyone can give me some direction on how to configure hqplayer , or have a link on best settings for use with Zen Stream I would greatly appreciate it!

I'm pretty sure if you search this thread itself there was talk of the HQ and setup usage, not loads but some... Give it a shot if no one answers you directly...

Yes now I remeber, wasn'tnt there someone else as well having issues?
