iFi audio ZEN Blue - The Official Thread

Well then time to add Amazon HD, it‘s a selfish request for myself and likely many others. And secondly, a big game changer would be I2S output. Stay under $399 and you harken back to the glory days of your first very affordable Zen products that put the audio world in a tail spin.

We are looking into it, however!

Is I2S in consideration as well?

It's not and most likely won't be. I2S isn't standarized and even the same sockets can have differently connected pins (it depends on a manufacturer), which would cause major issues for many people.

We never say never, though. Perhaps one day we'll make a transport with I2S.

Hi everybody, I have a question regarding Bluetooth codecs and TVs, perhaps some of you know. I'm connecting the Zen Blue to my Sony X85J, and it's only SBC because the codec indicator on the Blue is off. Any way to have AptX on a telly? Or perhaps SBC is okay too?

And what's the best way to connect the Blue to active speakers so the DAC is engaged? Analogue dual RCA? Isn't DAC engaged when the Blue is connected to active speakers with optical and coax?

Thanks!

If ZEN Blue sends out signal via digital outputs (coaxial or optical S/PDIF), it acts as a BT receiver plus digital transmitter and its internal DAC is bypassed. If you connect ZEN Blue to say active speakers or amp via its RCA or 4.4mm outputs, then it works as a BT receiver and DAC.

New Zen Blue 2.0 owner here. I love the sound it puts out via LDAC to SPDIF Optical and Coax. Receiving DAC is the Schiit Yggdrasil A2. I have a minor issue that maybe can be solved.
Whenever I stop playing music or pause, the LED will switch from cyan to blue but it also affects my DAC as it interrupts the connection. I hear a relay clicking and the connection lights turn off. When music is playing again, the relay clicks again and the indicator lights turn on again and music starts playing. There is almost no lag in playing music so it is no big issue but it is a bit annoying nontheless.
Is there any way to keep the pairing with the DAC constant?

Although it's not possible at the moment, our R&D will take a look into that!

AFAIK that's a no.
I see there is still no support for the Sacd iso's

@iFi audio if the Zen Blue is used only as a BT receiver into an external DAC through coax, would adding something like the Spdif iPurifier increase the sound quality? Thanks

One extra S/PDIF iPurifier between them could make a difference, but that also depends on how good that DAC's coaxial input is, thanks!

Hello!
Are there any plans for Zen Blue to support LE Audio in the future?
If you don't mind, please let me know!
Thanks。

Can you please clarify further what you mean by "LE"? Lossless?

Hello all,

My first post here. I have zen blue v1. Just to experiment on my side. I got a third party 5v power supply that actually outputs 5.5V.

Would this harm the device?

I also put more filter capacitor on the end cable of the power supply to clean the output to simulate linear power supply.

What do you guys think?

Thank you.
