Close to pulling the trigger on this. 2 questions.

1) Does this have any issues with iOS devices (iPad Pro 11" & iPhone XS Max) like the xdsd had?

2) Can I use 660s balanced, if so can anyone suggest a 2.5mm male to 4.4mm Pentaconn female adaptor (UK Based)

Thank you!

xCAN - Tech Note 2/2
Balanced on the go.

1.png

The xCAN offers balanced in/out to take full advantage of the growing availability of balanced sources and headphones. The xCAN uses the W990VST analogue volume control with digital CyberDrive control. For amplification, the OV4627 amplifier chip (4 channel) is used to deliver exceptional sonic performance on-the-go.

All New 3D+ and XBassII.

XBassⅡ® (On/Adj/Off) has been implemented in the xCAN for the first time.

2.png

In recent times, new research into headphone frequency response showed that a purely ‘flat’ response is not ‘ideal’ for enjoyable listening. Our long present XBass® fits the profile of the low-frequency correction required. However, it was also shown that a certain amount of lower midrange boost is needed to give many headphones a more ‘natural’ sound. As this lower midrange region is usually also called the ‘presence’ region we have used this term to indicate the lower midrange correction. In the xCAN, XBassⅡ®(or perhaps better HP-EQ) can be selected to have either Bass + Presence correction, only Bass or Presence correction only. Select according to listening preference.

Tip: DSP with its unavoidable loss of resolution and sound quality is NOT used for XBass® nor 3D+® Matrix systems. They operate purely in the analogue domain and use the highest-quality discrete components. Hence all the clarity and resolution of the original music is retained.

Cyberdrive. Fly-By-Wire.

As seen in the recently launched xDSD, the xCAN has the same CyberDrive platform whereby a central rotary and one other button replaces the need for many buttons. The volume control system despite being ‘digital control’ in function remains ‘analogue’ in operation. This means that the full dynamic range and every ‘Bit’ of resolution is preserved to deliver the best sonic performance.

I have done everything to avoid buying xCan since I had already the xDSD but unfortunately couldn't manage. I even bought the 58x since are more easy to drive but still I vastly prefer xCan.
So I bought the xCan since I am using that all the time currently.

I will provide more info in my review but as this might arrive after Christmas I just wanted to post in advance my rating which is 5* definitely especially for people considering any presents during this festive period. I also provide below a picture with all the cans I have used during my review.

Happy holidays everyone!

The problem is that all of them asking all the time for xCan but for xCan is a bit difficult to make all of them happy...at the same time...

Then you should be thankful you only have one set of ears. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I'm thoroughly enjoying this little "pocket dynamite" - I've been happily using it as a to power 300-ohm ZMF's and Senns on my desktop "stacked" with the xDSD as a wired DAC, and doing solo duties on the go via Aptx Bluetooth with my Andromedas.

I have a 2.5 TRRS cable on the way from Aliexpress to get the most out of the xCAN with my HD580 + HD650, can't wait to hear them all over again via balanced! Full review will be incoming shortly...
