I'm of the same view and would like to see a direct DSD to DSD upsampling being implemented in future firmware update.

OK, here's how it goes regarding the DSD upconversion process in our Pro iDSD. There's no meaningful way to upsample DSD directly to DSD with no intermediate format. In order to do pretty much anything with DSD (level control, EQ. etc.) it has to be converted to something else. In fact, that's how all professional DSD recording software works.
To pre-emptively answer the question about the intermediate format itself in our Pro iDSD, most manufacturers don't tell, but what we can say is that we do it the same way as Pyramix
More importantly, the upconversion quality replies upon hardware. We went with FPGA to have it as top level as we could.
2. For iDSD Pro, at the minimum, would appreciate a no filter option, ie. bit-perfect, DSD to DSD up conversion with intermediate format.
Lastly, dear @iFi audio , could you please confirm, 48k DSD playback will be fixed in the next firmware update? Thanks!

The iDSD a spectacular crash yesterday.
I eventually had enough time and patience to update the firmware, several days ago. I'm now running firmware 2.08.
The crash happened that way: I was playing a hi-res file [24-88.2]. Suddenly, the sound went heavyly distorted, as if the track has changed from Hank Mobley (which was playing) to Merzbow. I jumped on my preamp's mute button and I turned off the iDSD. All its lights went normally off. But when I turned it back on the horrible noise was still there. So I turned it off again and unplugged it. Not enough time, apparently: when I turned it on, there was a loud white noise on the left channel. Turned it off, unplugged it, etc... Now the white noise was on the right channel! Finally, I unplugged it for several minutes, and it worked "normally". Except that, on the same point of the same track, the noise started again. I knew what I had to do...
After that, I played another album, and it went fine, except for 1 odd second of the same noise, which immediately stopped.
I checked the Mobley's track on my computer, but I didn't find anything abnormal about it: it played fine, without the slightest hiccup.
Now I'm suffering from PTSD. And i'm wondering: what had happened to the iDSD? Is it a bug of the new firmware, or is my unit about to physically die?
Another - less traumatic but still annoying - bug, that I noticed before the crash: I turn on the unit at least one hour before I begin to use it. Each time, before playing the first file, I hear a click, like a relay commuting. It's not a problem per se, except that it causes a loud click in the loudspeakers too, which is not the best way to start playing music.
Did someone got the same problem(s) here?

Now we will see if the ugly crash happens again. If it does, I'll rely upon your support team instructions, if any.

I would like to know if the Pro iDSD is capable of natively streaming Tidal MQA titles
