I’ve been testing Chromecast on a Naim and even on 16/44, it feels that the native app sounds better. I wonder if the Chromecast layer is responsible for the downgrade.

Interesting, I haven't heard a difference between Roon's RAAT and Chromecast and native apps on a Naim Uniti Atom.. even just 16/44.1

But, there is a difference in how they work on the Atom.

For Roon in the Atom, there is no file decoding happening - the decoding is done upstream by the Roon Core/Server.

For Chromecast and the native apps with the Atom, the decoding is being done by the Naim, so would have slightly higher processor activity internally.

But still, I don't hear the differences.

@iFi audio now you formally updated the title of the thread to "Standalone. Streamer. DacAmp". Does that mean you are going to update the firmware with streamer in mind?

Hehe. It's been a streamer since the day it was released (UPnP, Airplay)

Networked DAC, network player, streaming DAC - all different names of the same thing.

Em2016 is correct! It's always been a streamer!

How many hours of burn-in is recommended for the Pro iDSD?

Hi there, right the Pro iDSD. In an ideal world, you are looking at 4 days full time per 'stage' as they all have different signal paths. So, 4 days each for solid stage, tube state and tube state plus.

I mean, it still sounds great out of the box but this is what we'd suggest as 'burnt in' in an ideal world scenario.

Hope this answers your question.

I don't feel like pro idsd sounds much different over time. My personal feeling with manufacturer burning recommendation especially those who say you need to burn in for 300hours+ is so you can't return it :).
