iFi audio PowerStation - The Official Thread - New reviews at page 8 !!!

Google translate is not good and then I have to correct everything.

This review is not available online as it was published in our printed edition.

I can attach a pdf scan here and if I can find some spare time I might do a translation for Headfi.

Thank you for doing that (if you have the time!) I'm sure folks would appreciate your insight, and we would as well!

I'm also sure folks who can read Greek would love the scan.

I just got two iFi Powerstations which I'll use in my desktop system. I have a standing desk and not all devices have long cables so I'm planning to fit the units under my desk for an easier cable management. Any recommendations on how I should go about it?

TBH a great question to ask because I've been meaning to do the same lol... I need to organize my cables too

Would love to see what you folks have come up with - I use a standing desk as well with 1 powerstation...no need for two yet. Lol!

iFi just released 2 new power cables, NOVA (199€ for 1.8m) and SUPANOVA (399€ for 1.8m). They should be great for use with PowerStation, Iˇm just not sure if Active Noise Canceling in SUPANOVA will provide any benefit when connected to one of the outlets on PowerStation.

Yeah, I'm also curious about what iFi's advice in terms of combining PowerStation with the NOVA, SUPERNOVA and DC Blocker products.

DC Blocker should be used if your transformers hum. If they don't, this product is not needed :)

As for PowerStation and our power cables, they go together very nicely on functionality and how they improve sound.

Let me disagree!!

It is not only about transformer hum but to my ears and after extensive testing - not only with iFi DC blocker - the DC blocker makes sound more smooth and timbre more natural , no matter if you have o - core or normal transformers.
It specially works wonders with digital sources.

Good to know, thanks!

And as for digital stuff, by default it's the most prone to any changes related to power.

I have acquired a Powerstation and three SupaNova cables.

The best-sounding setup I've found in my system is to connect the Powerstation with a regular passive cable to the outlet and then connect my equipment to the Powerstation with SupaNova cables, OR to connect the Powerstation to the outlet with a SupaNova cable and connect my equipment to the Powerstation with regular passive cables. Either of these combinations results in powerful bass, impactful transients, and a black background to the music. This arrangement is more forgiving of poorly-recorded music.

When I try to stack the cables by connecting the Powerstation to the outlet with a SupaNova and connecting my equipment to the Powerstation with SupaNova cables, the sound becomes crystal clear with a black background but also very analytical and technical. It's like having a hundred individual speakers tuned to different parts of the music, where I can hear everything in the recording, but the music is so up-front that I don't enjoy the music as a whole. This arrangement is not forgiving of poorly-recorded music.

That's been my experience so far.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. Your observations about black background and powerful bass are spot on!
