iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

Can somebody explain how the digital out is supposed to work? My intended use: upsampling to dsd512 with audirvana, send it to the Neo Stream with upnp and then with dsd direct send it via digital out to my T+A dac200 with usb. USB is the only hi-res input on the dac200. I tried it out, but the dac gives “no signal”, so probably the Neo Stream is one bridge to far…

Make sure you have the NEO Stream set to USB output, and not Digital or analog. When the DAC is connected and powered on it should be an option in the Menu.

Digital is for all the other outputs, coax, etc.

It looks like those pop-up sound or brakes when playing from Roon are HW related not software, I got information that unit have to be send for service.

Thanks for answering, I did also try this. You are able to choose Dac200, but then the Neo app says the Dac only supports dop…, this is probably because the Mac only supports dop dsd256 max. I can do that direct off course without using the Neo. The Dac supports up to dsd1024. I hoped to upsample to dsd512 and then output this to the dac200 via the Neo stream.

Make sure in the Volume settings (app) it is set to "None" then DSD Direct should become an option in the menu.

Yes I know. The app constantly decides to go back to software, but to no avail. I you chose dac200, you cannot choose dsddirect, because it thinks the dac20p only supports dop…

I would lodge a ticket concerning this with us and also with DAC manufacturer, perhaps a misreporting over USB, I do not have a DAC200 to try here, but I know I have done it with Roon and other DACs.

Yes, the software volume issue is a burden for those who won't use it and has been mentioned internally.

I checked using Roon to my iDSD Signature, and also my SMSL DO200MKII from the NEO using USB both had no issue and showed DSD Direct in the Stream-iFi app as well as on the display screens of the DACs themselves.

Nothing current other than it is a known issue and is scheduled to be resolved.

It's important to keep in mind this is a difficult issue and varies greatly between folks and Roon users, I will give you an example. For me this was a bigger issue when I had older equipment and cables in my chain, it is now a barely noticeable issue, in fact, if I'm being honest I rarely hear or notice it anymore. I changed my switch and cables to these two items and now it has practically disappeared.

That does not mean it is not happening, it simply means there are ways to mitigate it, and also that not everyone is experiencing it in the same way. so care is being taken in a solution, on both sides.

The Neo Stream is accepting the dsd stream I can see in the Ifi app, but the stream is not exported correctly to the dac200. The dac200 says: no data. Audirvana is playing and streaming to the NS…

Yes sorry, it has been awhile since I used Audirvana, so again I am not sure, Hopefully, Support will get you sorted out.

are we ever going to get a firmware update? still waiting for that update for tidal so that we get flac...since the mqa passthrough problem was never resolved.

it feels like there's a lot of support at the beginning of the product for the first half of the year...and then no updates
