I found the solution (with a bit of help from the Audirvāna users blog) for not being able to replay dsd128 and higher…
As my Aitos preamplifier is being upgraded, this forced me to set the replay in the Ifi app Volume options/mixer type to “Software” to control my Aitos OTL power amps.
If I changed that to “None” I can replay up to dsd512.
So my lesson learned (maybe also applicable to other Neo Stream users): you have to use a preamp (or digital out to another Dac) and set the Volume options/mixer type to none if you want to use/upsample dsd128 or higher. At least with Audirvāna and MacOs that is.
I have an old preamp attached now and I can replay/upsample to dsd 512 now without hiccups ( I play for an hour now…). Wow, this was quite a ride…
Cheers!

Just got Neo demo and I ma trying to check all options. I have a problem with some popup sound or dropouts when I use it with roon and usb output, it happen every few minutes.
Second problem is that if Neo is used as standalone unit with connected ssd and used with analog output it stop playing sound every few minutes, I think due to lost ethernet connection,
it connects again and play have to be reinitiated, so it is kind of restart.
Do I miss some settings or those are known bugs.

Welcome to the Neo discussion "saudio7". I own a Neo Stream with I2S out to a PS Audio DirectStream DAC and use Roon as well. Unfortunately, I had your exact same issue ever since I bought the Neo back in February (my first one was actually DEFECTIVE and would not show the white status bar ever although I had it hardwired with Ethernet to my gigabit switch). The good news is, the dropouts have "mostly" gone away as every firmware update has lessened the amount of dropouts (I now average 1 or 2 an hour). When I use the Neo as a DAC feed the balanced out, no dropouts. So, check you firmware - I am currently on 2.16.6 and make sure you are running latest Roon too. I found that a FULL factory reset prior to installing the latest firmware made a difference too. The dropouts are certainly an annoyance and should be fixed eventually - but to me, the Neo sounds SO good in my configuration, it is worth the occasional dropout. I am however looking VERY seriously at the PS Audio AirLens....Just got Neo demo and I ma trying to check all options. Yes, I have latest FW 2.16.6 and also roon, did’t performed factory reset, I will try. Not good news that this is not solved yet and Neo is not very new product as of now.Welcome to the Neo discussion "saudio7". Welcome, Yes you are both correct there is an ongoing issue with Roon dropouts. Most are hearing them 1-3 times an hour seems to be an average of users.Yes, I have latest FW 2.16.6 and also roon, did’t performed factory reset, I will try. Please be assured we are aware of this issue, and last I heard it was scheduled for resolution. Even though it is a known issue please take a moment to fill out a support ticket and let them know your specific observations.

Can somebody explain how the digital out is supposed to work? My intended use: upsampling to dsd512 with audirvana, send it to the Neo Stream with upnp and then with dsd direct send it via digital out to my T+A dac200 with usb. USB is the only hi-res input on the dac200. I tried it out, but the dac gives “no signal”, so probably the Neo Stream is one bridge to far…
