Hey folks! I have a Holo Spring 3 KTE incoming and I'm thinking of using the i2S digital output into the Spring. Does anyone have experience with this setup and advice? That would be much appreciated! 🙏

Has the new firmware fixed the mixer volume kicking out of 'none', and thus not making playback bit-perfect?
No, Not yet but this is in the works to be addressed. On a side note, I was under the impression that as long as the Volume is at 100% (you can set default in the menu) then bit perfect is accomplished.

This was my understanding, if I am wrong apologies, just hit me up if you can run any test that shows it isn't and I will be glad to pass them along.

Cheers!!

Hello most generously helpful sir, would you mind sharing with me what firmware release you’re using? I haven’t found a new stable one since about a month ago—is that the one you’re referring to here? Thanks!

Anyone experiencing issues with Tidal Connect ATM? Tidal identifies the NEO but the NEO does not go on to play music with Tidal on play and the "time meter" running. There is no album displayed on the small screen.

I solved it yesterday with a factory reset. I'm now doing a factory reset now again to, hopefully, make it work. AirPlay worked fine just now, so it seems to be something with Connect. AIO or dedicated mode doesn't seem to matter.

I am on the new firmware 2.16.6

But I did run into something weird when I first set it up, I'll do the best I can, to sum up what happened, then maybe you can do a soft reset and see if it helps you.

When I updated the firmware the NEO seemed to disappear from ifi.local. Normally this does not happen to me. When I opened the app on IOS it was giving me the Hotspot method for setup. Reluctantly (lol) I used the app for "hotspot" setup and magically everything was back to normal. I then promptly went into the menu and turned "hotspot" off!!

Since then I have had no issues, maybe you could see if this will help you out, and I would report the issue to support as the more folks that know the better we all are.

I'll keep an eye out for how you get on.

Cheers!!

I honestly am about ready to ditch Tidal altogether. If I didn't need it for helping folks it would have been gone again months ago. (personal opinion)

Are you using a DAC or are you using the NEO stand-alone with the internal DAC?

Cheers!!

We are on the same firmware, good! And I too experienced a network settings reset when I upgraded to this latest release—I use Ethernet so I still had a connection, but I had to turn off the hotspot and wireless radios again as I had done after my first setup. My other settings seemed unchanged. Maybe they updated the wireless radio itself on this latest firmware?

That could be, I have run into some oddities as well but generally, I am using Roon so I actually rely on folks here to point stuff out that I am not seeing.

I use Roon with both Tidal and Qobuz myself, and I’m waiting for the latest Roon API update so I can access Tidal’s latest hi res FLAC catalog, and decide which of the two platforms offers the better selection of masters. Now that Tidal is phasing out MQA it doesn’t make as much sense for me to pay for both.

Most concerning to me is that Tidal’s previous hi res catalog included a large number of “provenance” masters that in many cases were proprietary and not always available anywhere else, which is my prevailing hypothesis for why some folks thought that MQA sounded “better” than FLAC. I’m hoping that Tidal still has access to those masters when replacing the MQA versions for their new hi res lossless format.

Hehe, I feel you. I like Tidal though - I have all my favorite albums saved there, the UI is good enough, and I like setting the NEO in the dedicated mode. But surely, the softwares do not always play along.

I have an external DAC. The NEO always identifies the DAC (the USB card; as an option besides digital/analogue) but the DAC doesn't display a received signal.

We are in new territory here (well actually old, lol, before MQA)

The big issue is still going to remain that folks that don't want to pay for additional software to use Qobuz, will choose Tidal for Tidal Connect. I really wish that Qobuz would get a connecting feature out as I feel it would benefit them greatly. To me Tidal on its own has always been "buggy" at times, just my experience.

That's a quote from another forum that I like to keep on hand, because it reminds me how long it's been, lol

Hopefully, when the dust settles and all is equal we will have Two fine High rez services to choose from. At least until Spotify gives us 44.1 minimum then we have a whole other discussion. :deadhorse:

Cheers!!

Hmm, usually USB connections work flawlessly, at least for me.

I remember at one time using the internal DAC I would have to use the Dial to change from analog to digital and back to analog to have it "kick in" so to speak, you could try that. Does this happen in AIO mode as well? Let me know...

Cheers!!

Yes, AIO too.

I don't think it's an issue with the DAC or the USB connected to it (or the output options); the NEO just doesn't seem to get information from Tidal. Again, factory reset -> update to latest firmware solved it. In the long run, it can be tiresome redoing the reset again and again.

Qobus might be an option ahead, but I need to become friends with one of the UI-programs that supports it :)

I agree...

Please take a moment to gather this experience and pass it on to the support folks here...

More folks reporting an issue like this is better for resolution in the long run! Sorry for the issues.

Cheers!!
