Was there any improvement in the sound from the original FW that comes with the device to the last one where the filters are installed?
Is it better to install FW on Windows or MAC?
My device is perfect with great sound quality, I don't know if these filters will make that much difference.

Filters are a subjective thing that you may possibly like more (lots of folks enjoy our GTO filter), so it's good to try them if you're curious. However, If you're happy with what you have right now, there's no reason for a change :)

Is it better to install FW on Windows or MAC?

Windows is considered a less problematic platform, so if you can use it, please do.

Hope this helps, thanks!

On another topic, any Tidal users out there? If so, did you do the suggested update, which appears to ditch MQA in favor of a “Max” designation? Everything sounds fine via my Ifi neo idsd— but the neo screen still shows MQA on Max tracks and the sample rate never goes above 44.1. Again, sounds fine, but what gives here? Any insights to offer? I know MQA is controversial — and is it now essentially a goner? Thx —

Tidal switching to FLAC over MQA is going to be an ongoing process, so there is still going to be a mix of FLAC and MQA in their library.

If the track your listening to is still MQA the designation will remain until it is changed.

This will take time!

Much thanks for that great reply! It appears your notification was much more detailed than my own! Either way, it’s interesting that all of my MQA files now say MAX in my phone. The Master designation is gone. But on my Neo, it shows MQA and 44.1 only. Strange or a normal byproduct of this transition?

I would say normal, as we go thru this transition.

My thought would be changing the name of a file across Tidal (MAX) is probably easier than actually replacing all the files with Non-MQA versions.

Think of it this way, if you choose an album on Tidal that never had an MQA Master the unit will show it as a FLAC 44.1 file, and one that has the MQA signaling turns the MQA processing on. It is also visible using Roon that Tidal has many versions of an album with no way to really choose one using the Tidal app...

Just an example, with Roon I can choose which one I want to listen to...

Morning friend

I live in Florida And now I have a problem with my ifi Neo idsd , I use it like normal every day, but last week until yesterday I didn't turn it on because I didn't have time to listen to music.

This morning I turned it on. I notice something unusual with the sound. It had a crackling sound similar to The speakers are crackling. So I tried changing amps / changing cables / changing headphones / doing one thing at a time. Until I found out that the thing that caused my headphones to make crackling sound was caused by My ifi neo idsd . I have tried using the ifi Zen 2 instead and it works normally and sounds good as usual. And once again I switched back to Ifi Neo . The crackling sound returned immediately.

I'd like you to help me find a repair shop near my house.
