Added the iDefender3.0 / iGalvanic3.0 to my chain and very impressed with lower noise floor, improved clarity, instrument separation and an overall balanced naturalness to the sound. Bass is quick, resonates deeper w/o boominess or bloat, mids and vocals are very organic, uncolored and almost "live" sounding. Highs such as violin and cymbals sound crisp and clear w/o stridency and have a very natural attack and decay. There may be some new toy syndrome at play but it is more than that. If you are considering the iGalvanic3.0 bundle, YMMV but I am very pleased with the results.

I agree with this, except that for me the iDefender seemed to fail very quickly and had to be taken out of the system. I don't know if this is a common experience.

So recently I noticed an issue a few days after putting the Igalvanic 3.0 in. I've been getting a pop or crack that I didn't notice at first. My system is PC -> Igalvanic 3.0 -> Iusb 3.0 -> idac2/focusrite 2i2 -> ican pro. I tried different sized buffers, updating the usb driver, different USB ports, tried a different dac, I also tried setting up Usb 3.0 -> Igalvanic -> idac2. I ran a dpc latency checker and did eventually come up with my nvidia driver could be potentially causing issues so I updated it but it didn't fix the issue. No idea why it would start all of a sudden. I haven't tried different usb cables yet though, can a faulty cable cause this?

Yes, with me it was great for a short while, then I started getting little clicks. These developed into short bursts of noise, followed ultimately by continuous hiss. I then tried to track the problem down and found that if I took out the iDefender it all worked normally. I haven't been able to test it long enough to determine whether the sound is better with the iDefender in the system, but it sounds pretty good without it. When I've got the time, I expect I'll contact iFi support.

That's kinda odd.. So a similar issue to mine. Last night my audio just stopped working completely neither of my usb audio devices were even there. When I looked at device manager it was saying usb device not recognized which was the iusb3.0. I took it out of the chain so I had the Igalvanic 3.0 to idac2 and was instantly recognized. Unfortunately however the pop clicking was there. Also there was a point last night where it seemed to have fixed itself no clicks or pops for an hour or 2 but ultimately returned. I didn't have a ton of time last night to figure out what happened to my iusb3.0

looks like my experience is not an isolated case,

to IFI rep, when idefender is in the chain, is the switch on igalvanic suppose to stay in the middle or it should be flipped downward? can help to check with the engineering for answer/feedback?

Hello GHoldridge

Check the earth switch options. Sounds like your system has no earth (based on the lineup) on the audio side and perhaps also non on the PC side. This can cause issues.

I hope that this answers your query.

Best wishes

I received my igalvanic 3.0 today and am also having problems.

My system is a PC running Hqplayer. For over a year i have had the iusb 3.0 running with no problems.

My previous setup was, I run a high end USB cable from the PC to the iusb3.0 and another high end USB cable from the iusb3.0 to my esoteric k-03x. My PC
has a 3 prong power plug and is grounded.

Then i added the igalvanic3.0.

So i now have a high end USB cable that goes from the PC to the igalvanic 3.0. Then a high end USB cable from the igalvanic3.0 to the iusb3.0,
and another high end USB cable from the iusb3.0 to my esoteric k-03x.

About every 6 to 7 minutes, as the the song is playing it just changes to static through the speakers. I stop the song playing restart it and it plays for another few minutes
before the stats starts again. I seems to happen in the middle of the song. I have tried numerous songs and it keeps happening after playing a couple of songs.

I have the igalvanic switch set to the middle position. I also noticed the igalvanic leds are orange. Are they supposed to be that color.

Further testing has confirmed the time frame for the static is variable. It has happened with in a minute, to after a few minutes, to over 10 minutes...

i believe ifi will make a micro iGalvanic next yr or so, to put it on top of micro iusb3.0 as flagship usb device
I'm finger crossing that too....hoping for my iUSB Micro 3.0 replacement rather than the iGalvanic 3.0 addition

Check if something in your house wiring is setting off the problem, like a refrigerator cycling or someone turning light switches on/off.
I tried an ISORegen, and my computer would totally shut down when I turned off any light nearby.
Currently I am using the Intona followed by a Recovery and this has been working perfectly for a couple years.
