Hi
One friend is interested in ifi zen can
I read its specs and appears more powerfull than ifi micro idsd signature.
Its a better amp than signature or only in power?
I advice to him that he buys ifi micro idsd signature, but i don't know if signature is the better choice
Cheers

Hi there!

The Signature is better through and through, for its power and flexibility.

Depending on what your friend is looking for with his budget and what headphones he's using, I will be able to provide a better suggestion.

If budget is of no issue though, he won't be disappointed at all!

Looks like they don't have the switch between dac and preamp mode anymore

That's correct.

Just want to chime in as a new owner of the Signature and say "thanks" for all the useful information in this thread - reading it in it's entirety convinced me to get the unit, and after 4 days of ownership, I'm pretty thrilled.

Enjoy :beerchug:

Just want to ask everyone if you use your iDSD Sig with an amp?

I have SMSL SP200 I bought originally to pair with it, but find that the iFi is powerful enough to power my ZMF Aeolus and HD650's and I guess the SP200 is neutral enough that it doesn't add anything to the experience. Plus I do enjoy using the XBass and using an amp doesn't really allow me to directly enjoy that on the iDSD.

I guess if I were to try anything different in the future it would be adding a tube amp...

Well, I can pair it with Burson but it does not make a lot of sense...unless something is happened with your desktop DAC. To me Signature is self-sufficient.

Turned mine into a streamer/DAP, haha. Purchased a iPhone SE 2020 for a great price and stuck it on the Signature with microsuction tape. Plays Roon and Tidal like a champ including MQA. Originally used my HiBy R5 in this capacity, but Roon and Android don’t play well together (edit: to clarify, for playback because Roon doesn't bypass the Android SRC and everything gets resampled. Works fine as a remote though).

That doesn't look like the original Apple Lightning to USB adapter, does any of such cables work for this?

Thanks

Similar to any USB to OTG cable for Android device, you *should* be just fine any lightning to USB adapter even if it isn't the official Apple one.
