iFi audio iDSD Signature - The saga continues!

It'll be discontinued in favor of the signature.
Wait, that doesn't make sense... Why replace the regular production BL with a limited run unit? What else will there be? Perhaps @iFi audio can clarify, or someone can link me to a post if it was explained earlier on and I missed it.

by iFi: micro iDSD Signature is the successor of micro iDSD Black Label. As such it'll replace the BL and will be available worldwide
:)

and it will be a limited production of the Signature , yeah, does not make sense..
not limited like our products made exclusively for Drop. It will be available through our regular distribution channels worldwide.

I still don't get it because:
Only a limited number will be made, so those wishing to get hold of the Signature edition of iFi’s landmark transportable DAC/headphone amp should act fast to avoid disappointment.
So while available worldwide, there will only be a limited number of units available and after that? Don't get me wrong, I think the Signature looks very exciting, but right now it seems like the Signature is the swan song for the Micro iDSD and I can't imagine that a product so universally praised will end without a regular (as in; not limited in number) replacement. Just trying to clear the confusion.

mmm, if the Signature is a limited edition the BL will continue to be the mainstream one no?

I'd say it's a little unclear at the moment. Ifi has said the idsd signature is limited, but that it's also replacing the Black Label. But we also know that there is the diablo in the works, and there could just be something like a black label 2 coming. The limited nature of the signature is probably related to how many they have currently produced. But I am sure that if they sell out, they will make more.

Maybe I am wrong but it sounds like marketing mumbo jumbo to me and I read that to mean limited until the next replacement comes along. Aren't most things "limited" until the product is discontinued anyway? I don't think they meant "limited" to mean they would only make 100 units or something like that. Would be nice if IFI were more specific.

will the micro iDSD BL be discontinued? or will both BL and signature be available in the lineup?

Yes. Once we run out of stock, it's done.

It'll be discontinued in favor of the signature.

That is the successor of iDSD BL, yes.

Diablo becoming the main replacement in the near future.

I'd say it's going to be a fair bit MORE than just a replacement :sunglasses:

Well, it is confusing. I'm guessing the BL Signature will not quite be as "limited" as the drop Signature iFi products.

Products sold under the Drop flag are subject to their own rules. Signature devices available on this platform will eventually find their way to our regular distribution channels, but it'll take a good while.

Would be nice if IFI were more specific.

We will shortly.

None other than our internal staff was involved, but there was no need to reach outside. Our micro iDSD BL provided us with substnatial feedback that in fact led to micro iDSD Signature. Plus, one crowd design project is more than enough to know that this approach also has its downsides :)

Back before I bought my iFi Micro iDSD, this is one of the reviews that I read, here on Head-Fi -

As for the background on the micro iDSD, this product was designed with the Head-Fier in mind. In fact, much of the design concepts were a product of feedback from the Head-Fi community. Search the threads for this device and you will see that this product was designed from what many felt were the things required to make the micro iDSD the ultimate all-in-one audiophile DAC/amplifier.

I am very interested in the iFi Micro iDSD Signature. It is also my favorite color, blue.
