Yeah using PC. I'll try my phone and see how that goes. I'm testing the Gryphon balanced out to Jotunheim and wow that sounds amazing. These devices are really amazing. Treble is less prominent from the Gryphon vs. Diablo but sounds just as extended. Diablo wins on clarity and soundstage but both of these are really impressive as DAC only.

That's correct. I'm having the same feel on the zen sig one vs diablo on my end. But since my chain is on the crazy end, I recognize the zen sig one is wanting on the upper end and soundstage and I recognize it would match noisier systems. I do however have a modded Diablo that not running on battery and battery is more rolled off and warm fuzzy compared to the mod..

Hey, everybody. I have an ifi BL that loses in musicality to Questyle QPM.
Can Diablo beat QPM in musicality? Power is not important, QPM rocks all headphones.

Haven't tried the QPM, but if you want musicality, the Diablo is the best version of that we offer in our lineup.

Has anyone tried the IEmatch 4.4 mm with the Diablo? I'm finding it too loud even for my relatively hard to drive Aeons. I think it may be something to due with the low impedance. It's much less of a problem with Verite closed with higher impedance (amazing synergy between Diablo and Verite closed BTW).

I really want to keep this DAC/amp, but after about 2 hours my ears are still really fatigued. I'm thinking its due to the excellent dynamics rather than treble extension possibly. Honestly, I've never hard Aeons sound this dynamic out of a transportable device before, it's really impressive.

Too loud even on low gain? You may need to go down to 6.3 for half the volume.

Yeah I'm running off the 6.3 mm non balanced and getting about 55-60 db (measured from iPhone app) at 11 o'clock just where the channel imbalance goes away. I'm closer to 65-70 db off the balanced output.

For comparison Eco on the iDSD micro BL is down to like 45 dB before I get channel imbalance even without using the IEMatch toggle. This is likely an Aeon thing as I have the same issue with the Zen Can amp.

I like to have the option for quieter listening for work / longer sessions as 65- 75 db can get fatiguing after a while.

Not sure why I'm so sensitive to output from this device. I can go to 75 db on Bifrost 2 / Jotunheim 2 for extended sessions but that setup is a lot more tame in the treble.

Diablo is tuned for power hungry HPs so you may need a iemmatch indeed. I had the aeon 2 and that one need a bit more power to sound more balanced oddly but the 2 doesn't need a lot of power to sound loud. But yea the 1 is well balanced and easy to drive and I can see how you will have issues with too much power. Iemmatch it is then.

Is there a short lightning to USB cable I can buy to use with an iPhone without adapters?

This belongs to a head-fi member who paid to have this done with silver wiring I think. (Not that data cables have sound in theory)
