iFi audio iDSD Diablo - A portable reference done our way!

There is an on and off and pairing button on the rear with bluetooth on being displayed on the front indicator light.
@BS5711 is correct here, and in all honesty, I must admit I would be the first one to say Bluetooth was never for me, but the implementations are getting better and better, although we all know the reasons why "we don't" care to, these new iterations are at least worth a critical listen to see.

Cheers!!

The thing the Diablo V1 was good at, was giving a dramatic/immersive gaming experience. Tactile right on the timing but still uncontrollably independent with its character.

Musically I am curious what it does vs V1.

Guys, i’ve received my Diablo i got from classifieds. I tried one song called Amber Rubarth - Strive and there’s a significant difference between my M2 14” Macbook Pro.

First time i’ve heard increase in soundstage depth and impact when volume matched 2 sources.

So far so good. iFi iDSD Diablo will be my main source from now on.

Considering buying Genelec 8010’s to use with 4.4 to XLR cable. Did anyone tried Actives with this source? Can i use studio monitors with these? Worried about fixed current?

Diablo from the 4.4mm with a nice custom cable is my pick for the HD600 even over a WA6 tube amp. Of course tube amps with high output impedance are said to be the perfect match for the HD600.

The Diablo 4.4mm output voltage is the standard balanced spec at right on or near 4 volts.

Hello
It seems the battery of my Diablo v1 had died...
It still works perfectly when plugged to power, and to keep it portable I also can use a powerbank.
But this makes the stack heavier...
Does anybody know if the battery can easily be replaced (I have a soldering iron), and if yes, where I can find a new battery in Europe (France) ?
Regards

Please let me know how your inquiry goes in regards to getting a new battery for the Diablo 1 or the process thereof.
Many thanks. I have a Diablo 1 as well and I get about 3 hrs of battery life in turbo mode.

For the moment, I try to get the reference of battery I can use...
I will check this weekend if the original battery seems easy to dismount (if not, I'll keep it as it is :( ...)

Thank you, but unfortunately Diablo battery is not mentioned

It is, under "iDSD micro range".

AFAIK all version (including the "red label" and the "red label") used the same spec & size battery (and share many other things). It looks like this:

There were probably vendor changes through the decade+ production run of this platform since 2013, but even in 2013 the tech for kind of battery used was mature. So vendor and model changes would have had low impact on the electrical parameters and size.

Under the black wolf clothing is a generic "sheep silver" battery, similar (but not identical) to this one:

Simply locate one of the correct size and capacity (more capacity is ok, slightly less also, but not a lot less) and swap. You may be able to find with the correct wires, but that's unlikely.

Alternatively, remove the protection PCB from the old battery and fit it to the new one, using spot welds on the battery nickel contact strips (do not solder) or solder the old battery's wire tail to the new PCB.

All batteries are pretty much generic standard, just needs 3-wires for the thermistor. If that's missing the battery doesn't charge.

"I get about 3 hrs of battery life in turbo mode"

The battery is around 18 Wh 4,800mAh / 3.7V or 3.8V). The idle consumption in "turbo" is well over 5W, so 3 Hours or so sounds about right.
I will check this weekend if the original battery seems easy to dismount (if not, I'll keep it as it is :frowning2: ...)

It simply plugs into the Power PCB.

This is very similar overall to the silver iDSD Micro discussed here:

As said, all part of the same family.
