I guess not. I mean something like this MUSES72320 in the diagram below. C9 is just an amplifier without a dac, so I don't think it has a "digital domain".

As Diablo won't work without a battery attached, you either have a dead battery, empty battery, or bad charging circuit.

See if your charger functions right by charging another device from it, then charge the diablo for an hour, and see if it works on battery power.

the charger works fine, diablo was charged over night, as this issue came yesterday and i assumed it had no battery left

Diablo can not receive Bluetooth.

The Diablo can handle coax and usb input, the xDSD doesn't have either for output. You'd probably want one of those FiiO bluetooth receivers. I believe those support usb dacs.

Gotcha. I'd have to ask our engineers why they use what they use. If I'll get an answer, I'll make sure to post it here somewhere.

I, unfortunately, don't have any experience with CDs (shows my age!) but I'm sure someone around these parts will be able to you out!

If that SPDIF cable works with your FiiO, it should work with iDSD Diablo as well. Can you please check your Diablo's firmware version?

I am not quite sure how to do that, could you help with saying how. I only have access to the Diablo with a mac book pro. Thanks.
