That's all true and your insight hopefully brings some more understanding to those most demanding forum members, at the same time I also agree, that iFi has probably reached a state with the £3750 Phantom when it is about time to look into extending that 1 year warranty to 3 years.
i totally agree with you, anything with a premium price tag should IMO have a premium warranty. and also a premium customer service experience. it's one of the reasons i'll go back to brands like ZMF, Ampsandsound, and DNA. All are smaller boutique shops, but man they go out of their way to make sure you're satisfied, which they should given the premium pricing they demand.

Exactly. Some of these boutique brands go not just one but two extra miles sometimes to please their customers, building almost a personal relationship. IMO with this approach eventually they will conquer some (currently) big mass production brands on the market who basically have no customer service. IMO buyers are becoming more and more conscious and will take these factors into account too when it comes to purchase. For 20-30% more money you might get a lot better product and superior after purchase care. Buyers should realise, it is not all about immediate price. By spending 20-30% more you might actually save a lot of hassle and money in the long run.

Abyss - a company that is likely not even quite on par with iFi size-wise - just increased the warranty on their products to 10 years. TEN YEARS. That tells me Abyss is confident their premium pricing is warranted and it is "no skin off their back" to offer a robust warranty to their customers. I get iFi offering a 1 year warranty on their "mid-fi" gear - no one is up in arms about a 1 year warranty on a $100 desktop amp or $300 dongle. But if they want to play in the $3k+ "premium" category they ought to demonstrate that they're confident their products warrant that price tag. We audiophiles love to throw money at our hobby, but I would posit that very few of us do it lightly.

You are not at all wrong. I'm just asking the question to push the conversation forward.

If iFi is confident their multi-kilobuck amp won't fail in the first 3 years there is NO REASON they shouldn't offer a 3 year warranty. Holo does. Violectric does. Burson does. Ferrum offers 2 year. If you want to compete with the big dogs make big dog statements.
Schiit has 5 yrs,

Thanks - yes, I saw this. But I thought the info earlier in this thread might have been drawing a distinction between some features relevant for e-stats, and some for other phones. While the blurb from technobear doesn't seem to do that it's pretty general. It would be great to have some confirmation from the distributor.

Thanks for this. Can I ask again, do the X-space/X-Bass functions work with electrostatic phones? The general info above doesn't make this clear.
Just got the answer,

X-Bass and X-Space are indeed supported on Electrostatic phones!

Hope this helps!

Cheers!!

@Mr BubbaHyde will iFi be bringing the Phantom to the SoCal CanJam later this year? I really want to hear this with a DCA Corina and Stax 007s.
I can certainly ask, my assumption would be yes as it is a new Flagship product, but I do not know for sure, when I do I will post an update!

Cheers!!
