iFi audio hip-dac 2: just the tonic for headphone fans

I have a query.
If I want to replicate the xBass boost using a separate parametric eq, what values should I put?
Asking because the connector for my hip dac is loose when using with mobile only(laptop is fine) and I really like the bass boost. Would love to get similar effect using parametric eq on my android.

Can someone help me with the frequencies and values for xBass?

Does anybody have a link for the stretchy silicone webbing thing i’ve seen being used to hold Hip dac to a phone?
I’ve tried a few searches and come up with nothing.......
Do a search for "FiiO silicone bands" and you should find several options, including eBay and Amazon. Also, might be listed as "Three PCS Silicone Rubber Band for iPhone" on Amazon

Thanks for that but i've tried that search and it does bring up bands, what I’m looking for is a silicone net thing that you pull round the four corners of the phones screen so it doesn’t obscure the screen. It is a thing, i’ve seen somebody using it with their Hip Dac, looks like a great solution.

I have just received my Hip dac 2, and cannot get it too work with the included USB A to USB C cable on my IPad Pro (no I am not trying to use the charge cable:smile:) It does work however with the official Apple cable. Do I have a faulty cable? Do I need to return the whole dac or can iFi just send me a replacement cable?

Thanks

I know this device doesn't have a line out, but has anyone tested it as a preamp anyway?

That's an interesting question. I haven't yet seen anyone using hip-dac 2 as DAC/pre for a separate power amp, but I'd gladly read about how that goes :)

I saw a YouTube channel in Spanish addressing this, using the Hip Dac as a preamp for Edifier speakers, but honestly I found the video inconclusive in the result. It would be interesting to know if connecting the 3.5mm or 4.4mm output of the Ifi to a line output on an external amplifier would produce distortion or noise.

Technically you can use hip-dac 2's headphone out to regulate volume of a different product, but that way its amplifier stage would be in use, which is not perfect. The more I think about it, the more I see ZEN DAC V2 as a product that would suit your needs better. It has a proper line out and its volume control can be bypassed. Hope this helps, thanks!
