iFi audio GO Bar - The Best Pocketable HiFi System, Bar None!
Apr 29, 2023 at 6:21 PM Post #931 of 1,211
As soon as I saw that ddHifi was launching a new lightning cable, I was thinking to give it a try. Today I am happy to announce that the new MFi07S Lightning cable works fine with the iFi Go Bar (non-gold version) with an iPhone 14 Pro Max.

I am currently using the firmware version 2.20a and so far, the following cables are working fine with my iPhone 14 Pro Max:
  • HiBy Lightning cable
  • Fiio LT-LT1
  • ddHifi MFi07S
And the cables that I own and do not work with the iFi Go Bar:
  • ddHifi MFi06
Regarding the MFi07S cable, it is quite expensive, but the build quality is exceptionally good. The connectors feel rock solid, and the actual cable/wire feels as flexible as the stock iFi cable but has an outer insulation layer of PVC that makes it more durable compared to the stock one:

If you are curious about the technical specs of this cable, check the product page here.
Where did you get that housing on your phone that the go bar is ?

Lottoo Paw S2 sound comparison?

I've had the Diablo, the sig, gryphon and hip dac 2 so I'm familiar with the general sound.

I do have a very efficient headphone that I would like a bit more power for.

Thanks guys.

Just to chime in on ddHiFi cables, I just received and started using the TC09S to connect my Android phone to the Go Bar. Of the three cables I have (iFi stock, FiiO LT-TC1, and now TC09S) the TC09S certainly appears to be a quality cable. I'm interested to see if durability-longevity is as expected for a cable that cost 3-4x other options.

The jacks fit very securely which should help while going portable (for me the iFi stock cable is fine, but "looser" than the others). I have not listened long enough to claim any sound differences but that would be frosting for this purchase if that is the case.

Is the Ifi Go bar suitable for using as a DAC for Ifi iCan Pro?

I’m currently using iBasso DX320 (amp12) as a DAC & player. Would the Go bar be any near of that DAC performance when using mobile phone as a player?
I rate Go Bar (Gold) high as a Dongle but DX320 is IMHO one of best DAPs SQ wise below TOTL level.
Am not sure though if your Amp12 module is featuring true LO, I know only that Amp11 does. So that might be preferable to avoid double amping.
Go Bar doesn't feature LO mode, so you will do double amping and also forward the relatively high Amp Noise floor to a subsequently connected Amp.
So my opinion is that DX320 is superior to Go Bar especially as a source for an external amp

Agreed, I have run some things to my Pro iCAN sig this way, but preferably a dedicated LO would be your best bet!

Cheers!!

Thank you for the reply!

Yes, the amp12 offers true balanced line out.

I’m now wondering if the Go or Gold bar would be enough to carry Meze Liric headphones and Itsfit Lab Fusion IEMs, which both are easy to drive. And sell DX320 + iCan Pro. Any thoughts?

By the way, almost every review states that the Gold bar is clearly superior compared to Go bar allthought the specs are nearly the same.

Is that true? Is it worth the extra cost?

the difference:

The Gold Bar on the other hand is made with high-grade copper and then bathed in gold. It weighs 64 grams and also boasts an enhanced power supply filtering section besides claiming better shielding overall so you’re not just buying a shiny coating.

Just my .02 cents for your consideration...

Anytime I have found myself with decisions like this if at all possible I always tried to order what I was considering (if within your budget) from a reputable business with a "no questions asked" type of return policy. Then within that time make an informed in-person decision if this was the way to go.

You have got some awesome equipment there and all would be easily "sellable", but only time with a product can truly tell you if you are making the right call.

Hope that helps...

Cheers!!
