iFi AC iPurifier - Video Mini Series - The look, the tech, the lowdown. MORE ADDED!

Moderately insane question.
I have 2 AC iPurifiers... do they make fuses redundant? I ask because I have a Linear Power Supply that I wired myself... with no fuse at the inlet.

AC iPurifiers provide surge protection, they will shut down in the event of a short or surge spike.

@iFi audio
Hi is there a maximum number of AC iPurifiers to be used in a system where more may damage something, or no, the more the better?

I now listen to clean power exclusively. DACs, amps and transducers only add noise, who wants that?

(On a more serious note, I didn't notice an improvement beyond three, and it's already very subtle when using more than one, and more noticeable in my two channel system than my headphone system. I'm gonna use three per system and call it a day for now w.r.t. power conditioners.)

From my experience, more is not better. Depending on your system, you should try and listen, and see how many is best installed, listen for the advantages also if thr purifier starts to change the tone of sound of the system in a bad way.

I didn't hear a difference beyond three, so I agree. But I have not experienced more making it worse, that's interesting. Has that happened to you?

At that price I'd switch to an Audioquest Niagara 1200. Though the iPurifier is nice to sort of isolate multiple devices from one another.
Every addition of ifi power improved the sound so try if audioquest Niagara is also improved if ifi ac purifier added then that means ifi ac purifier is more effective in reducing the noise. Unlike many power conditioner which are passive and use some kind of choke to filter out noise, ifi ac purifier actually cancels the noise. While passive conditioning can stunt the dynamics when removing the noise, active cancellation improves the dynamics while also removing the noise.

It's a compelling argument from a theoretical point of view, but the Niagara 1000/1200 made a much bigger difference (in my speaker system, both seemed ineffective in two headphone systems) than a Furman PST-8D (no benefit by itself that I noticed) + 3x iPurifier, and the Niagara's 6/7 outlets are split into three banks (1/2x high current, 3, 2), so there's no logical "first" outlet to plug them into. If there's an unused outlet in a bank, then that would be an obvious place to try an iPurifier, true. Audioquest definitely advises against plugging power strips into the Niagara (considered that to hook up power amp + subwoofer to the Niagara 1000's single high current outlet), but in theory that could be fine and would allow adding (more) iPurifiers. I'd be surprised if they make a bigger difference in combination with the Niagara than in combination with the PST-8D, but I admit I have not tried it.

Their input stacks, and several in a row won't do any damage.

Exactly. PowerStation is an active product. Its active component was designed to measure, sample and then cancel noise incoming from the mains.

I've bought several iFi mains filters and they are all working well. However, the mains polarity lights are all red. I am in Spain and have Schuku sockets. The mains cable going to the sockets is coloured red, blue and yellow/green stripes, although as far as I know it shouldn't matter which way round you have a Schuku plug going into the socket. However, if I reverse the Schuku plug of the mains block that the iFi filter is plugged into, the polarity indicator is always red.

One of my three filters is connected to a mains block which isn't earthed as there isn't a Schuku socket in the wall, and so both polarity and earth are red for that one. Does the mains filtering still work properly in that case?

The product's active filtering circuit will work regardless of two LEDs red, but ideally it would be good to have them green. Some components are sensitive to polarity. If it's reversed, their performance might be truncated.

Thanks. The are three components on the mains block without an earth and two of them are powered by iFi iPower PSUs. The other is a router with its own switch mode PSU. So I assume none of these would be affected by the lack of earth or if the polarity was wrong.
