Hi Guys,
In my previous post I have raised couples of queries as below:
1) Why there is no perceived improvement on the Block 1? is it because the AC in Hong Kong is cleaner? Or my Power Conditioner is efficient although it is cheap stuff?
2) In the Block 2, I have plugged the AC iPurifier in the Wall wart. I would like to try to plug it after the Balance Power Supply to see if there is better improvement in the sound. Is it safe to do so?
3) Does the AC iPurifier need break in time? If yes how long? I recall the iFi iPurifier Spdif needed 3 weeks to shine.
4) I have plugged the AC iPurifier in all the Wall warts of my apartment, the Polarity LED show red systematically. Hong Kong uses the same plug as UK. My system sounds fantastic to me. Far from being out of phase as the Polarity LED indicated. Should I ask an electrician to rewire the Neutral and the Hot? Will this make the sound improve much better? Or I should just ignore the Polarity LED?
During the week end, I have experimented further and done some research on the internet.
I have plugged the AC iPurifier after a Balanced Power Supply. I could not detect any change in to sound. Tried hard with my reference music tracks but could not detect any difference with our without the AC iPurifier. That answers my 2) query.
I have come across this Eric's blog:
http://singaporehifi.blogspot.hk/p/low-cost-free-tweaks.html
He explained the discrepancy between AC from US and AC from UK/Singapore/Hong Kong.... Therefore if you live in countries that used UK plug, having the Polarity LED of the AC iPurifier flashes RED does not mean your system has polarity issue. So that addresses my query 4).
The question is if you live in one of those countries and the AC iPurifier LED flashes GREEN? That means a polarity issue?
My queries 1) and 3) are still left unanswered.
if no break in time is required, then I can conclude that the AC iPurifier has an epsilonic impact on my system.
As mentioned everyone will have different results depending on their set-up, gears and country AC. Don't take the improvement for granted.
I will put mine for sale after just less than one week trial. Unless someone convinces me otherwise.
Not the topic in this thread but if I was to rank the gears that have a big impact on the sound (priority order):
1) Room correction
2) Balanced Power Supply
provided that you have taken care of other aspects like speakers placement, vibrations, decent interconnect and power cable.
Enjoy your music everybody.
