I like the ER2XR tuning more but I just EQ my ER4XR by doing 4db 105Hz low shelf because I prefer BA IEM's for bass speed & overall detail(Planar tier).

Have you guys tried etymotic tuning kit for your iems? What are your favourite combinations? I am owner of etymotic er4sr, er4xr and er2xr.

To me green filters are ideal for er4sr, at first I even changed them to red filters, because bad recordings with sibilance were too sharp for me. After a while I went back to the green ones, because I was missing how it sounded with green filters on good recordings in terms of details and crystal clear highs.

Er4xr with green filters is also nice pairing. But I found the er4xr having less treble energy compared to er4sr. Although according to graphs they should be almost identical except for the bass region. So I tried the brown filters and now they are even closer. Still prefer the treble of er4sr, but they don't have enough bass for me.

Er2xr was a big surprise. I found them to be easy on ears in terms of sibilance while using green filters. Even dull sounding compared to er4sr. There was a big improvement with brown filters, but to increase the detail and get them even closer to my er4sr I opted for white filters. Er2xr with white filters ended up being my favourite combination and I use my er2xr more than er4sr/er4xr. They are not as technically capable and crystal clear as the bigger brothers, but they sound more realistic due to the dynamic driver. I don't feel like I am missing out in the bass region as I did with er4sr/er4xr.

Those will fit just fine. Those will bring up the midrange as well as the treble. If you want a middle step between the white and green filters, you may want to see if you can locate the brown filters.

I have not struggled to find my preferred earbud headphones. Having a programming job in a noisy environment in 1999 or so I sought out isolating headphones to block out distracting sounds. My online investigations brought me to the ER4S and I picked up an Airhead headphone amp at the same time because it seemed like everybody with ER4S said it or something like it was necessary to get the experience. The only other earbuds I've bought besides Etymotic Research are Bose Quietcomfort 20 noise cancelling ear bud headphones for $240 back in 2014. They require occasional charging, drawback #1. They are no competition for any Etymotics I've ever had in terms of listening to music and I've had several kinds including ER4P, ER4S and others. I've liked every single Etymotic set I've had. I use the Bose solely to noise-cancel sounds in my neighborhood if I take a nap! I never use them for music

In my experience the Airhead amp isn't necessary at all with any of the Etymotic sets. I use it for headphone support on my CD systems and I have it set up with a wall wart, don't bother with batteries.

I find the spectrum of the Etymotics (whatever set I use) are adequate although I am hearing deficient in the upper frequencies. But I use EQ sometimes anyway, boosting the highs. I'm OK either way, my hearing's not that bad.

Have you tried the dual flange tips? They do lift the treble up a bit (I just discovered this, like in the last 8 hours). The isolation is *perhaps* not as good as the triple flange, but I still can't hear anything when I have them on.

I wouldn't use the Knowles filters in there as they are metal and the tolerances aren't very tight. In conjunction with the metal bodies of the ER2SE, there's a good chance they will be either too loose and fall out, or more likely, too tight and be impossible to remove once inserted.

The stock green dampers are 1500 ohms.

When I was there, both 2-flange and 3-flange were included. Has that changed?

If I remember correctly, my ER4XR (the last Ety I bought) came without the small triple flange, just the large 3 flange and 4 pairs of 2 flange tips.

I don't know, what I got inside my er3se was large triple flange (white) medium triple flange (gray) 4 pairs of double flange, pairs of foam, no small triple flange from previous owner

say, few things for my er4xr im looking for..
I played around with foam, the P comply but they are a bit longer, so the cable outer casing at the driver has a crack in it, but still works.. I use these under a motorcycle helmet.. also on the P, they seem to loose isolation with more use... so some days I would have to swap them at lunch..
years ago i got the replacement triple flange like what came with the er4xr, but the replacements were more grey white ish, and would quickly deform, and not isolate well..

are there better good isolating tips, that seal very well... or something else I should try ??
any recommendation for a replacement cable ?? would love a coiled part for strain relief, but haven't seen anything like that yet on these... they were on some customs I was demoing , and that little feature was very nice... since the cable runs into my collar of a motorcycle jacket..

any thoughts here would be great... I use them with a qudelix 5k..

I love the Future Sonics Earfills on my ER4XR. They are dual flange, but isolate very well and I find them more comfortable than the Ety tips. Years ago I had gotten a pack with an assortment of sizes, but as far as I can tell, they only sell individual sizes now. I think the small was the closest in size to the Ety tips, but I have gotten a good fit with both the small and medium. They are actually some of the only eartips I’ve ever gotten along with, and I’ve tried almost every kind on the market:
