If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

Got my ER4P/S in 2013, and while I have since purchased a pair of arguably 'higher end' ciems, I still find the ER4 part of my iem rotation. They're that good, and are built like a tank. I don't even place them in a case.

I just discovered the upgrade program, so now it's a no-brainer to send in my first pair of ER4P's and save $75 on the ER4XR's. Pretty awesome of Ety to offer that much off for an out-of-warranty trade-in. It's $125 off (only $225 for brand new ER-4SR/XR :basshead: ) if your old ones are still under warranty.

Seriously sounds too good to be true to save that much by sending them something that's been stashed away in a drawer for 3 years (since I got ER-4PT)

I would keep the ER4P if I were you because memories. $75 isnt enough to get the ER4P again if you wish to

I agree that I personally wouldn't trade in my ER4P's for the new ones. And that's without hearing the new ones. For me it's worth the $75 to keep a known good set of backups. YMMV.

Also I just bought an Apogee Groove. Has anyone else tried on of these with their Ety's? I'm pretty impressed. Dead black background. Seems to have more low end punch and possibly a wider soundstage, but honestly it's been a while since I listened to these. I've been a bit of prodigal son trying out others, but coming back to still appreciate how nice these are. But this little thing has some great synergy with these IMO.

Hey, are any of you going to Axpona this year?  I'm going to be attending for a couple of days.

Hey Dave, or anyone,
If I send in my old frayed cable blue, red, green er4p in for recabling, can it be changed to the S cable? I'd really hope to keep the same barrels/earpieces (is that what they're called?), but could use a new cable.

The serial numbers of my new er4b ends with 29 and 40. I remember those on my last er4s were next to each other.
Is this also normal?

I believe so, I thought they were all channel matched, and consecutive serials are seldom matched.

This is correct.  Once in a while you'll find a set with consecutive numbers, but it's more common that they won't be.  The most important thing is the channel matching.

Folks, quick question - where do you guys source the adapters for the transducers to use them with standard stock replacement cables?

I noticed that the new style adapters with a more ergonomic style had come out (or at least the housings for them). Are the new shape on the market anywhere yet?

Sorry to be a pest - I'm forever looking to make marginal improvements as this is gonna forever be my travel/work rig (or should I say rigs plural).
