IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution

Mhhhh ok

I wonder what the perfect combo for these iems is

From what I've heard of is that the mest is capable of portraying a complete out of your head soundstage.
Yeah,
just so you know that is not a "safe" iem that plays everything right,
some people even prefer a cheaper iem over the mest,
3DT, RSV, Rosemary, Isabellae, etc,

For metal I think the Mest greatest strength is on the separation and imaging,
in a really busy part you could hear everything,
but I also think the Anole VX & Softears RS10 is better at it,

Any fellow metalheads place a preorder for the Empire Ears EVO? I was hovering over the "purchase" button on Musicteck's website but just couldn't bring myself to blind buy a $3k IEM without hearing some firsthand feedback. Really looking forward to impressions on it!
I'm going to wait and see. The LX has too much bass for metal IMHO. The EVO will likely be more controlled, but there's a good chance it's still too much for fast metal. Let's see...😁

Ok I am now really unsure what my end game iems will be.

I really thought it would be the mest mk2

I am very prone to treble and sibilance.

But from what I've heard of is that the mest MK2 would be easy to listen to and non-fatiguing.
Then you'd be better of trying out Final E tips as long as you don't mind some extra bass as those tips magically get rid of sibilance completely.

My take on the Mest is this,
As much as I love it I cannot truly recommend it,
you have to have the perfect setup,
source, tips, etc,
it could be a harsh really fatiguing treble cannon,
really weak subbass rumble,
overly thick warm mid/vocal,

but if you find the perfect chain,
it's a smooth detailed experience without any sibilant whatsoever,
from subbass to the treble sparkle,
just wow ~~~

*and as a bonus, you will experience in some songs, instrument playing behind your head,
it's a unique experience,
This sounds like it's a recurring problem with hybrids and why some reviewers absolutely love them and some absolutely hate them. I can certainly confirm with the Monarch that, depending on the source, there's either practically no treble (a huge roll-off) or sibilant treble giving such a huuge range of tonality from a single IEM. For DD/BA IEMs, I haven't encountered that. Especially not to such an extent.

I love the Mest (OG), but I really love the treble. If something lacks treble, I quickly hate it. Then I can't recommend you anything

I really like my 3 IEMs for metal, but my favorite is the Mest. The second may be the Isabellae, more confortable, more natural.
But for me the Clairvoyance and the Isabellae may be more fatiguing than the Mest, because I am sensitive to high mids, and these two have more high mids than the Mest (Isabellae have a lot of treble too).

I use Azla Send Short with all my IEMs.

Seems like all the race at the moment. I'm also a little curious

What iem would you recommend for around 200-300 dollars for good bass response for metal? I've been thinking of getting the 7hz timeless
yes, my top rec is the timeless,
planar is amazing ~~~

but waiting for a month or so is a good idea,
there will be a lot of reviews and comparison,

EJ07 on a Zen DAC v2 with bass boost on. Megadeth sounds amazing on this pairing.

Hi! How can 7hz handle thrash/death metal. Is the bass fast enough, has decay?
Definitely. The problems with the 7hz seem to be dynamism and imaging. So depends if you want/need those for your library. Otherwise, resolution and detail retrieval appear to be very very good.
