I put my vote in for the RE0s.  Might not be so great for hip hop tho.

Etymotic Mc5 is a great all 'rounder due because of its natural frequency response (actual research backs this up, unlike the marketing claims of most other manufacturers) It is also one of the best for isolation, and the others that are tied with it for best isolation are all made by Etymotic too.
 
PS: if you haven't yet, get rockbox on that 5.5g iPod... the newfound EQing abilities will improve any headphone, and be able to alter the sound based on different Genres (though much better than the iPod presets, believe me.)
