SmartPower®: Please feed the Meaty Monster (part 1)

Some of you have asked our tech support about the how to fully-charge the micro iDSD from the get go.

Short Answer:
The micro iDSD manual covers the lion’s share of charging eventualities. All that it requires is connection to a suitable USB power source and left alone until the BLUE led is extinguished (length depends upon battery %). Thereafter, it is ready to play music.

If however for any reason the micro iDSD never reaches this state, the battery is likely to be operating on an empty tank – hence the various LED states reported.

Orico High-Power USB Hub (Part 2)

One sure way to feed the Meaty Monster

Some of you have asked us via PM or support ticket about recommending a high-power USB charger. Well, there are "quite a few" out there but nonetheless, we did a group test and found this one to be the best and also most ubiquitous.

Short Answer:
With the micro iDSD switched OFF, the standard USB port will take approximately 24 hours to charge a micro iDSD from 0% (BLUE led lit) to 100% (BLUE led no longer lit).

But for those wishing to not wait so long, we have tested a number of high-power USB hubs.

We have settled on this, the Orico hub model: ORICO UCHA-20W (it is widely available around the world)

Just picked up my idsd from stereo!

First time experience with ifi products but honestly I spent a bit of time trying to figure out how to charge it with power!

It wasn't apparent to me when I look at all the markings that digital input was supposed to be connected to the charger not sure how many of you faced the same question, I knew it could be connected to a iphone via the USB a cable with lightning to USB camera adapter but didn't realized it would work for power!

Impressions later charging for 24 hours

If you were to use the iPhone to charge Micro iDSD, your battery will drain extremely fast but Micro iDSD charging iPhone is fine.

Enjoy your new toys and do share your impressions :)

I didn't actually let mine charge for 24 hours. I actually use them right after the blue LED is off. I'm inpatient xD

i seems to have a problem detecting idsd micro when connecting it to the iusb via the dual head Gemini cable (with adapter that comes with idsd micro), my pc just could not detect it but when I replace the Gemini cable and use the blue cable that comes with the idsd micro, it works. Anything I did wrong?

The message : Unrecoverable playback error : Could not initialize the driver

This the error message in foobar 2000 when I use the dual head Gemini cable

Hello Everyone, I have request to you guys:
What type of cables should I use to make this combo work properly? Android phone>>iUSB>>iTube>>Micro iDSD?

I thought that it should be like that: Android phone>USB OTG cable>USB A to B>>iUSB>Gemini II Double Headed Cable>Usb B to A Adapter>>Micro iDSD>2x RCA To 2x RCA>>iTube>>2x RCA to Famale Jack 3.5>>Headphones.

Its pretty complicated and I dunno if all those adapters will be able to support DSD files? I wish that they won't lower the sound quality.

If there is any easier connection without those adapters, then please reply to this post. I will be very glad.

Greetings.

I have a similar problem with my IUSB and Gemini cable. The blue USB works fine with IUSB and Micro IDSD. I would contact Ifi and set up a ticket.

Try this:
Foobar2k -> Preference -> output.

Check if you have selected the correct output.

Otherwise,
Start -> Control Panel -> Hardware and sound -> sound manager. Check if you have selected iFi system.

But for the best answer, always contact the professional team @ iFi but I do believe it is just a setting problem :)

Correct me if I am wrong

Don't think is output selection issue as it works immediately after I replace the Gemini cable with the blue cable that comes with the idsd micro. I have a feeling Gemini is basically built for idsd nano with the common tybe B USB but things get complicated when the idsd micro comes with the type A interface which needs an adapter which I already tried and won't work at all when connect with the iusb.

My iDSD came with two type B adapters. It looks like the Gemini cable has a type B on the end. Use the one piece hard adapter found in the sealed sliver bag first before the other one with a short cable.
