Idle speculation: Denon to compete with HD800 and T1 someday?

I wonder if Denon will ever make a 'really high-end' headphone to compete with Sennheiser and Beyer in +$1000 market?
 
Maybe if they refresh their line, which is something I've heard rumors of.

Aren't all the higher end Denon cans based on Fostex designs? They look extremely similar to the headphones on Foster japan....
( Maybe if they went for the RP driver instead of the usual dynamic drivers..... but I suppose that's not going to happen....)

The D7000 is 1500$ over here so they are already competing :wink:

I'd venture that Denon already considers the D7000 to be competing.  The price is irrelevant to actual quality in the audio industry, except for the perceived allure that exhorbitant pricing brings.

They will make a +$1000 headphone but it will have too much bass.
 
People will buy it anyway, same way that they buy hot fudge sundaes when they should be eating cucumbers.
