What happens when you gently touch the grey rim or black mesh grill - can you hear the "touch" even if no cable is attached to the headphone?

What theory could explain why I can hear the faintest touch other than a microphony problem?

I think that the Whiplash cable does not have an outer braid and that it is similar to the stock cable and I can hear no "touch sound" when I either touch or move the stock cable.

Don't all earcups have an airspace between the driver unit and the side of the head thereby creating a potential echo chamber, but I have never previously experienced this described microphony phenomenon?

Jeff.
I am not getting any more transmitted sound than with my Utopia, R-10 and a few others. The R-10 have more but when using I never notice it.

If you wear glasses, make sure they aren't under the pads, as this will decrease the bass and lean out the sound.

Why don’t these get more love? They are really good. They have an excellent and smooth tuning with a very good soundstage. And they’re comfortable as well. These sound like a ZMF Atrium without the gorgeous wood.
I wonder this all the time. The iBasso SR2 and SR3 are still my top pics for value, sound quality, and build quality. My holy grails =)
They get about 80% play time out of all my headphones. The issue?? They DON"T cost enough. People often buy price and go from there.
What people need to put in perspective when @jamato8 says anything like this is that this is his inventory, purchased with his own money:
ORPHEUS HE90, Sony MDR R-10 (tuned up new foam), Ether II, Voce (newly designed ear pads), DCA Expanse, Focal Utopia and Stellia, Abyss 1266 Phi TC, Hifiman HE6 (early 4 screw original), ES Audio R10. I think he had experience with more headphones, but these are the ones in his bio.

Even with the SR2, he placed them on the same level with the Focal Utopia. I am not saying that you should just focus on this single opinion, but to have any man put down such a vast amount of money into headphone and to say that a $500 headphone is up there with his $4k headphones, that opinion comes with a certain amount of weight with it.

Anyone using their SR3 with an OTL amp? After a long break I recently brought out my Woo WA2. Sounds very fine! (Wasn't sure if there would be an impedance mismatch or not)
I use them with a Microzotl and the sound is very good and that is OTL. I have other headphones to compare to here and the sound is very lively with the SR3.

I like this headphone so much I ordered another pair. (Backup!) I hope every SR3 owner has been having some good musical times...
I have some of the finest headphones in the world and they are very enjoyable. I would say the SR3 gets about 80% of the time and that says a lot right there since I can choose from any of the others. I enjoy the utopia the Sony R not one10 and so on and they are musical, but the SR three somehow just gets to more of the root of everything to the music to the heart of it. I do use the Whiplash cable with them.

What pads do you prefer using with them?

I use the lightly perforated ones. They're just a little bit breathable. The heavier perforated ones I don't care for they make the sound too sharp to clinical. These are a good in between to me that are the perfect balance and I use the same ones on the pioneer high phones that were put out and they make them excellent sounding versus the original pads that the pioneer came with. So these are good pads and they hold up extremely well least they do for me. I've used the same ones not for quite a long time.

Yeah I'll be buying the small perforated pads soon, the ones that came with it have no perforated, sounds a bit too much down low
