Honestly, I bought the black because the red/blue didn't appeal to me visually. But now I'm kind of wishing I reversed my choice. The dots on them to show right & left are so tiny that it takes me like half a minute to find one every time I go to use them. It's my only complaint I have at all for these.

I agree with that and I've found an easy way to remember which might help you.
When I pick them up I hold the shells with the silicone tips facing away, the two 45° angled edges on the outside left and outside right, and I make sure the mmcx connectors are coming out
of the bottom of the shell as I look at them, and not the top. Much easier, never have to look for the dots anymore. Like in my photo.

Some of mine I can immediately tell which is which by feel, but the IT01 don't really lend themselves to that. I don't know which thread I originally saw it in, but I've started putting a colored o-ring on one side or the other at the connection. So far this works pretty well.
Edited: Or, even easier, just follow the above recommendation from @DRuM
I had taken a marker and put a tiny L & R on them, but that wiped off almost immediately. Could do something else, tiny piece of tape on one side or something.

I've been really trying to love these, but I can only say that these are absolutely amazing for music only but nothing else. I watch alot of YouTube and anime and just feel disconnected to everything I play. By disconnected I mean the voices feel far back somewhere, I want it to feel more close to me, im not sure if it's because of the wide soundstage of if it's to do with the mids of these? So unfortunately I might have to consider giving these back and look for something else. It's a shame really as these technically sound monstrous.

I haven't tried these for gaming but I'd predict that they should be suited as they have a big soundstage. More bigger the soundstage should be able you to locate things easier.
