I'm still testing both earphones, but I must say, that i really do not want to send any back because I love the sound on both of them but am having a really tough time choosing. The fh1s mids, in my honest opinion are done to absolute perfection, with airy, detailed, thick sound without sounding recessed and the tonality is life-like. The highs are a just tad low for my liking but still done quite well. In comparison to the it01, the it01 has considerably better treble but the mids are 1 level lower compared to the fh1. Where the the it01 takes the significant edge is it soundstage which overall has a lot more width to my ears. Now the bass is very much the same, excellent on both of them. Tbh I want to keep the fh1s a bit more, but onr glaring problem is that I can't pump out much sound from it compared to my other earphones, does anyone have any solutions?

Mine gave up the ghost yesterday after just over a month’s use (the right ‘phone is now outputting almost nothing). I’m quite sad as I really enjoyed the sound of these :frowning2:

Contact iBasso. They have excellent customer service. They'll take care of you.

I've tried 2 different pairs and both had pretty bad driver flex. Other people complained about it too so it's normal. Just insert them slowly and remember not to pop them out of your ears fast either, I've destroyed a driver doing that.
It seems like you have both the it01 and fh1s, what are your opinions on the fh1 after burn in?

Now that you have them, would you say the IT01 mids are recessed or thin as some others have mentioned? How does the IT01 compare to your ostrys?

Fh1 have 26 Ohms Impedance and it01 have 16 iirc so you need to crank up more volumes to get them beans sing your favorite songs, that's all.

Imho I really like the mids of the it01, but unfortunately, yes, this is the only drawback, that the mids are just a bit thinner. I don't think it's the fact that their thin, but more to do with how thick the others are. Regarding ostrys, they are really similar, apart from the treble which is noticeably better and the mids have more better tonal sound on the it01. However, the ostrys have that nice thick mids, with alot more relaxing sound tuning. All 3 of them have excellent bass which is quite similar, but the mids on the fh1s are to die for. Only if they had a bit more treble and had just a little bit bigger soundstage, then I would of went as far as to say that the it01, which is currently the under £100 champ, is one level below the fh1s. Consequently, the drawbacks, pulls it just that slight bit behind.

The way I see it is that under a certain price range, there will always be elements of an iem that are great in one area but lacking in another. It might be that you'll never get the perfect mids and perfect treble and perfect soundstage all in one package unless there is a step up in price range. And the unfortunate thing with anything to do with hi-fi and head-fi is the law of diminishing returns, meaning that you might have to go from say sub £100 to over £400 just to get small improvements. But those small improvements might be what you're looking for. Perhaps the new IT04 offers what you want. Or maybe there's a more expensive Fii0 iem that retains those perfect mids you like in the fh1 and also has improved treble and soundstage.

One more thing. Apparently the IT01 requires up to 200 hours burn in, so you might not yet have heard them at their best. By the way, listen to these two songs as another test. They're both really well recorded and even as mp3s, still a lot of detail. And to me, the vocals sound very present and full. Have you tried the wide bore tips?

I couldn't agree anymore with what you said. I personally feel these £400 iems should be priced within £200 as the differences are minimal. Also, on the flip side to what I said earlier, I could say that if the it01 was generally more full bodied, then then this iem would be absolute legendary! About trying other items, I will never buy iems that cost more then £150. It's a little bit too much for me.

Do you generally believe in the burn in thing? It just doesn't sound right that an earphone needs upto 200 hours to evolve it's sound. To me it's a marketing ploy. Regarding how thin it is, I honest still think it's a bit thin on the thin side, but it does not necessarily always mean its a bad thing, as generally thinner midrange produce better clarity and crispness. Hmmmm, the wide tips seem to give me hardly any bass with a more thinner sound.
