Thanks, seems that the TFZ no.3 suits better my taste as it's a more of a basshead IEM

The Ibasso IT00 has less distortion than the Final Audio E5000. With some cotton and a little foam I got them to sound smoother than the E5000 (with the same mods).
There’s a certain edginess to the transient attack of the E5000 that won’t go away. The IT00 is less edgy

First, take the screwable nozzle out. Get some cotton from a cotton pad or ball. Cut a piece of Sennheiser HD650 foam like on the picture below, but cut it twice as thin in the width. How did you do this?

Roll a bit of cotton around the foam block, until it looks like the picture below when it’s inserted in the nozzle. Except you would have both the HD650 foam block and cotton in there.

If you roll too much cotton on the foam block, the nozzle will get too stuffed and they’ll get more resonant. Play with the amount of cotton rolled around the foam block to get the desired result (I did this myself).
Don’t put the nozzle back on. This is important if you want all the resonance and edginess removed. Ofcourse you can put it back on, but this will take the effectivness of the mod away.
I use reversed Comply T-600 Large for the tips with a bit of the plastic nozle removed, so the distance from my ear canal to the earphone gets shorter, and it will make them less resonant in the transient attack due to the shorter distance.
Coupled with a litz copper cable I have here, the mids and highs are simply wonderful after this mod. I just wish they had a tad more mid bass.
I did try it without the HD650 foam block, but the nozzle always gets too stuffed with the cotton alone. I also tried it with a piece of dried alcohol swab cut in the same size, and while the middle of the nozzle stays open like the picture above, I found cotton smooths out the peaks better.

I’ve learned that it’s easier to mod a transducer that has fr peaks with low distortion, vs a transducer that has more distortion but less peaks.
The IT00 is a perfect example of this. Uppermids and highs without peaks like the E5000, yet the texture is smoother and more refined.

For the ones who burned their IT00 in for 100 hours, what sound changes have you noticed?

I improve sq of it00 by following steps.
If no eqing, I never listen to it to avoid killing my ears with a far from good sound. I always listening to something close or is reference class.
Stock it00 sound too bloat bass and metalic timebre.
1) EQing all bass band and low-mid -5dB to change the tonal from basshead to something more neutral
Or below are better ways,
- use AutoEq(wavelet) , OR
- use parameters eq (uapp)
2) Remove dust filter to open up space.
4)use with cayin ru6
5) (this might be no need, consider p/p) Change cable to a silver one
Result I got is a pure analog feel sounding: a single dynamic driver drives by a R-2R ladder.
Refer to Ru6 donge dac to know how good it is.

I've been loving my IT00 and i am looking for an upgrade on the "same direction". I am looking at IT01s and they look stunning. Would that be a worthy and significant enough upgrade?

Given the V-shape of the IT00, FiiO FD5 is similarly tuned and a big step up in terms of technicalities. There is a bit more lower treble with the FD5, but overall the graphs have more in common than not.I've been loving my IT00 and i am looking for an upgrade on the "same direction". I was looking at FD5 as well, but the fact that they're semi open i am not sure how well they isolate & how usable would they would be in open environments. I really enjoy and use IEMs on the street, coffee places, etc.

How would you compare the isolation of FD5 to IT00? In case you have tried both. I'm pretty content with the isolation of IT00.
Isolation on the FD5 is very good, not excellent but still good while listening to music. How would you compare the isolation of FD5 to IT00? In case you have tried both. I'm pretty content with the isolation of IT00.
I consider it as a semi open-design rather than open.
