iBasso DX90 Bug Thread - Post Any Firmware Bugs/Issues Here

My DX90 with 2.1.8L0 stops during shuffle play every so often and reboots. I can´t find out which files cause that. After reboot the same file is ready to play as on last reboot. This never happened before with 2.1.5L2. Unfortunately I bought a second DX90 before 2.1.8 arrived, but don´t want to switch back to 2.1.5L2 since I like the sound characteristic of 2.1.8L0 with my T5p and CKR9. My library consists of MP3, M4a, FLAC and AIFF. After pressing "my music", I wait for about 30 seconds before a response, then if I press artist, I wait another 20 seconds, scrolling is a hit or miss, the screen is oversensitive, can´t be read in sunlight...the SW is a dilemma. I sent one of the DX90´s to Sanmigel for his mod, it arrives back any day now. If I knew 2.1.8 is such a problem I would have saved my money for something else. Should there be same SW problems in the next FW update, I will discard the DX90s and find a better product. I intended to use one on my motorbike, but having to restart the damn thing all the time during a ride is totally unsafe and misses the purpose. So, Ibasso, get to work and create something that really works, Apple seems to know how to do that - hard but true.

I see the same thing, after updating to 2.1.8L0   Never had any problems like this on previous firmware.  I'll continue to use 2.1.8L0 as I want to get a feel for the SQ, as long as the problems like this happen infrequently, and I can live with the odd occurence.  If it get's worse, or becomes bothersome, I suppose the answer is to switch back to 2.1.5 and wait for 2.1.8 to be fixed with a new version.

On a positive note, I am happy to see that new firmware can provide improvements to the SQ, as it gives hope that there are more improvements ahead.

I would also suggest that iBasso focus the current engineering resources on fixing up the interface problems.  Let the engineers focus on that, and delay adding any more features, even if this results in some unhappiness from users.  Introducing more features adds more variables, and complexity, versus working with the current feature set, and just focusing on fixing the interface issues.  And if there is a choice, I believe most people will be happier with a working DAP with less features, rather than having many features, with a DAP that becomes irritating and unusable.  I believe the majority of users want, and use the DX90 as a portable DAP, whose main purpose is to play music well.  It is icing on the cake if it also does a good job as a desktop replacement, an audio decoder for Videos, an external DAC, etc., but that is not it's main purpose, or what it was designed for.   Doing one thing really well, is preferable to doing many things not very well.

Utilizing what it can do, I am finding that using the LO to drive an external amp/speakers sounds better than using JRiver on a PC, to a Micromega MyDac as the front end.  Using the same amp, just swapping between the DX90 LO, versus the MyDac LO.

Hello, I have this devise and I have the following issues, The tracking bar of the song when it plays gets stuck, it tends to happen when I let the screen go blank and then turn it back on.

Also when I power on the devise when the power is low it will try to boot up and it then powers back off. it gets stuck in a loop.

I would do a factory reset to see if this cures the problem.

I done that, is it a common issue? regards

The stuck progress bar after screen turn off I've had on all fw versions on both DX50 and DX90. Going into options or any other navigation away from the play screen and then back to the play screen restores the propper function

Its really not a deal breaker, Does the issue happen in rockbox?

Highly unlikely since it is two completely different pieces of software

Ok thanks for the reply, regards

I have let the SW team know about this. We will see how they handle it.

That's right. Pretty simple, actually. Though I have to say how appreciative I am that so many are beta testing this.

Hi, I own the DX90 for about a year or so and recently the following problems are showing up:
1. During use, occasionally the volume will suddenly increase to maximum volume and I cannot stop it regardless of what I pressed. After it reaches maximum volume, it will freeze and I have to reboot it to get it working. Currently I'm using 2.1.8 and it happened once, previously while using 2.1.5 it occurred quite frequently.

2. I understand from most users here their Dx90 last about 6-9hours of play using standard s3 battery. Recently my battery doesn't last more than 3hours of play even though the battery I used are brand new genuine s3 battery. This is happen before and after using 2.1.8. Oh and it gets really really hot.

Are these physical problem with my dx90 or a different firmware would resolve? Anyone have similar problems?

I've never gotten more than about 5 hours from the stock battery or any other standard S3 battery. I get about 10 hours from my 4400mah Anker battery
