Better battery life, track counter on the playing screen, dual card slots and DX90's sound (with the same ultra-low output impedance, ultra-low noise floor and the same fine-grained volume attenuation) would be all I need.

Wow, CS4398... Sounds to me like they want to take Fiio X3 Gen 2 out. I have a feeling that maybe the DX80 is indeed a DX50 replacement and that a bigger monster is in the works.

with the dx50 selling for $220 and the dx90 for $400, that's just a bit above the midpoint, and sets up the dx120 [or whatever it will be called] to sell for $600-700.
