With a bit of research it seems that indeed the 500x500 is critical so I am resizing all the offending artwork but with over 1200 albums it may take some time!! is there a way of doing it bulk??
I am an apple user so I am using colour sync utility to resize each album cover- any ideas for a quicker way?

Yes, something like "there's something wrong".
I get this when I am shuffling all music and restart the player. It does continue to shuffle all tracks and shows correct count after the songs plays through or I skip to next track

I just google the album name and save the image from the one that takes my fancy, never go for high res and never resize them and all work for me.

well, 1.5.2 is good but I don't know why I still miss that 1.3.3 L4 sound sig

okay its personal preference, I prever 1.3.0 original ( laidback or whatever )
the good on 1.5.2 L0 is thump noise and premature track ending are more smooth than 1.3.3 L4 but your battery draining issue isn't vanished
anyway I still wonder why my album art is still pixelated

This happens with all kind of playlist (genre, artist, album, all music) and not only in shuffle mode.
But that's true, the track number shows correct with the next track.

1.5.2 is working perfectly apart from when I reboot the player after a shutdown it loses the track I was playing and goes back to the grey tree looking cover and blank track.

The power does seem to go down more quickly but still fine.
