Found a problem (using 1.1.4). Not sure if previous fw has it as this is the first time I played from those folders. So far found 2 "problem" folders.
Scanned card and completed with no hang ups.
If I freshly switch on and go straight to that folder to play, I will get a very fast "media scan" for that folder (the % number running... not supposed to right since I've already scanned the whole card), 2 hardware clicks (amp?), jump back to "Ready" empty screen and nothing happens. Selected track in that folder did not play.
If I have been playing other folders, say last folder played is Maroon 5's V, track 5 with the album art displayed bla bla, then go into that problem folder to play a track, I will also get a media scan, but this time, that track will play. BUT it will still display V's track 5, with V album art. Then:
- If I swipe back to track list, it show's the problem folder track list. I select another track to play, that track will play but again, displaying V's track 5 and album art.
- If I directly press button to skip track, it will skip to V's track 6, and display will be correct... track 6. (To proceed from there, subsequent swiping back shows problem folder, press button skips tracks in V album).
This is the same 64GB exFAT microsd used in my N5 and previous X5.
This is getting interesting.
I did some troubleshooting and discovered what caused the problem I was facing.
The two folders had apostrophe in the name..... "Roxette's Greatest Hits".... "Dances with Wolves (Collector's Edition)"....
Exclamation mark and semi-colon are fine though.
Once I delete the apostrophe, it worked. Its respective album art also showed up properly.
THEN comes the next phenomenon.
I left the folder name with apostrophe again. Inside that folder, I created another folder with apostrophe. Then I random copied one of the track inside. It could play! But this time no album art showed.
I reckoned I would copy the "folder.jpg" (album art) into that nested folder as well. It could still play but album art still didn't show up.
OK now i restarted the trial. Single folder with apostrophe with full album tracks and folder.jpg in it, and it couldn't play. Good.
Next, I just delete the folder.jpg. And it could play! No album art showed though, which was expected.
Finally, I copied back the folder.jpg into the folder. The album art won't show anymore. BUT the tracks would play now.
I wonder which is the correct question I should ask...
- Why certain album art will prevent tracks from playing if the folder they are in contains apostrophe?
OR
- Why an apostrophe will prevent the tracks in that folder from playing with certain album art?
