iBasso DX80 Bug Thread - Post Any Firmware Bugs/Issues Here

Jun 20, 2016 at 11:02 AM Post #1,022 of 1,489
Hi All.

I just got my DX80 today and loving every inch of it. Haven't encountered any bugs (after updating to 1.4.2) but I've got two significant suggestions and one not so much - not sure if anyone from iBasso is still reading this thread but I'll post anyway :).

1. There is no information anywhere on which card slot is 1 or 2 and also how the cards should be entered. Through googling and deduction I figured that both cards copper pins should be facing the slots separator (and also each other). And that slot 2 is the one further from the screen. Such information should be in the quick start guide, in the manual or somewhere on iBasso website.

2. When browsing by genre the player only displays tracks, not whole albums. When using genre browsing I'd like to be able to see a list of albums under selected genre, not per-track based list. Of course some people listen through tracks and some listen through albums. But currently people who only listen through whole albums have no use for this function.

3. The drop-down quick menu got really ugly (not sure which update - I jumped from 1.1.4 directly to 1.4.2)! I understand the change was to make it clear which function is enabled but visually it's so much worse and less elegant than the original.

I'm sorry if the above was already stated here.
Still I consider my purchase of DX80 a very fortunate one :).

Yes it's a great unit. Only a couple of remaining firmware bugs to squash. :-)

Not sure what this was supposed to mean.
The microsd orientation info should be supplied to iBasso customer through official means, not in a forum thread to which a typical customer has no immediate link or knowledge.

Hi,
Would it be normal for the DX80 battery to drain a lot faster driving a pair of full size cans in Hi Gain mode than it would driving a pair of IEM's in Low Gain mode? My friend lent me a pair of Mr. Speakers Alpha Dogs to play with. It sounds awesome with the DX80 but the battery seems to drain a lot faster.
Thanks.

Full size cans on high gain obviously use much more power than IEMs in low gain. And Alpha Dogs are planar which require even more power. So  in short... yes.

I've experienced battery drain even when not using the unit. The drainage can be as much as 20% down after full charged over 24hrs. I've used the unit for about 6 months so I'm sending in for repair. Anyone experience this sort of problem after using for at least 5 months or more?

Mine already sent in for repair last week.
Has been experiencing this problem near a month ago and charge was already reduced by 30% after 12 hours. My unit was purchased in Nov 2015.

I just sent my DX80 in yesterday because of the same issue.  I bought it in Dec 2015, and as of yesterday, loosing 10% charge in a matter of 3-4 hours of not turned on at all.  The distributor in HK said its normal, as its like a smart phone on standby.  I said to him even my smart phone on standby doesn't loose that much charge, and I insisted on for him to send it back for a check-up.

When you completely power down DX-80, it is not in standby but in shutdown mode. At this state it should not lose its charge in a couple of hours. Mine loses its charge by as much as 20% over a day after using roughly for about 6 months period.

Hey guys,

originally posting in the review thread, I think my comments are more relevant in the bug thread :

after first experiencing SD scan issues, and Null artist field in database,
I managed to sort it out by removing ogg files (which needs to be fixed obviously) and made sure every files had the "artist" field filled up.
I had formatted the card and filled them again, performed a factory reset and scanned one by one the card making sure the auto turn off was disable.

now, when I did that I filled up the two cards with a total of roughly 13000 files.

today I have tried to add more music in the card, reching a total of approximately 23000 files.
it was impossible to rescan the card, the scan were always interrupted, so I performed a factory reset and went on with different scans order.
I never managed to have more than 16296 songs recognized.

when I start from a fresh factory reset, the first scan always go smoothly, either it is SD1 or SD2. I can confirm the numbers of songs recognized match the number of song in the scanned card.
but whenever I start the second scan, it stops before finishing :
I hear the "click" as if the player just turned off, and when I press the power button, I can see the homepage but no more the scan %
touch screen is not responsive so it feels like the player is frozen, but actually you can lock it by pressing the play button (you cannot unlock because of the touch screen)
also when performing the second scan with an album playing, the music obviously stops as well when you hear the clicks.

@Yoones - You need to use this now - should sort out the issues you are having:

Batch Tool to use if you are having any difficulty with the FW update. It wipes the internal memory and installs a clean FW update but there are a few more steps but it is great if something gets messed up: http://www.ibasso.com/uploadfiles/20151210/201512100333294318.rar
You can download a .rar app for free to unzip the .rar. There are instruction with the download on how to install on a Microsoft OS computer. It can also be used on the DX50 and DX90 to load FW's.
