Thanks I am back. Mostly to help ibasso community. Need someone with Dx300 to try my modules. One is max performance and other is for better battery. Done buying gear as I have what I want.

I would offer mine up, except for the fact that I am done tweaking on mine... I have it right where I want it. LOL I am sure there are those on here that would love to give them a go.

Have you done anything for/on the DX160? There IS the Lurker mod which does a fantastic job, but I would bet you could improve upon it.

Edit: I haven't even installed the last FW update (that brings in android 11, and compatibility with Amp14, and battery charge limiter) because of the excessive battery drain; iBasso never fully fixed it. I am still on android 10.

I dunno I updated with the most recent one I saw here and it seemed to fix the battery for mine, love this thing and use it every day at work although it's in need of a spa day at this point haha something rattling around in there. Only thing I have now is sometimes I have to restart when switching from headphone out and coax but I don't mind that. Awesome device peace to y'all.

I have not done anything with android 10 so would need one with that version to develop optimization. I have not done anything with Dx160 but if someone could spare theirs for a week I could develop something. It may have locked boot so would have to unlock it. Try running adb root and see what output you get. If successful it can be rooted easily.

Nah, you could work on it pretty easily. Lurkers mod roots it, just by installing it (magisk) and sets permissions, etc. He stopped at optimizing a few music players and installing Mango OS, so there is plenty more to do (e.g. tweak the kernel, uninstall bloat, etc...).

Sounds like it is not locked. DX240 is believe or not. Sounds like I could do a lot. I have done extensive work on DX340/180. Depending on RAM I would have to change a few things. I just need a unit to develop all the optimizations for.

Yes he will be able to mod Amp15 and not sure of Amp16 but those are only compatible with Dx340. When he is back working will be sending entire Dx340 to be modded.

May I ask what would be currently one of the bast DAPs? Would you say Ibasso MAX Ti modded by NP AUDIO or DX340 also modded by NP? I am trying to buy the best DAP based on my research here on HeadFi...

That is not easy to answer as DX340 and Max are in different price brackets and of course preferences vary from one person to next. I have not heard a Max ever. My best answer is find a way to audition both stock DX340 and Max and decide for yourself. I never was in love with the Rohm DAC but love the DAC in DX340. @Whitigir owns both. He could give you a comparison based on his preferences anyway.

Are you implying that MAX Ti has Rohm DAC? May you please expand what's about it is inferior to DX340?

Yes it does. I find the Dac in 340 to be very analog sounding. Every note has its own space with a great large stage. Micro details are also excellent. Female vocals are super. To me it hits my preferences. I own 2 Dx340s and won't be buying another DAP. I do think Steve can make it even better. For me super gain is needed to get it to full potential and I think mod Amp would address this. There is Amp17 and amp18 coming not sure if they will be imported with all the nonsense going on. Knowing Ibasso there will be future amps that will be compatible with 340. I believe Amp17 and 18 will be compatible with 320 at least maybe 300.

I have a possible issue with my DX300 concerning the analogue battery where it is discharging itself when the device is off.

Thing is though I have hardly used it over the last couple of years, has the battery somehow failed because of the lack
of use? would it get better the more I use it as recalibrating the batteries has not helped.
