Pls don't mention M8, I was skipping it in favor of DX300 MK2 but could never try it...
Battery life on the iBasso DX300 continues to impress. This is after leaving on burn in (FLAC) after 8 hours...
Side chat: i wish the shows were going so i could try Shanling M8 and Hiby R8...stupid corona....i could probably go to an audio store here but....stupid pandemic....safety first.

Just wondering, and maybe it’s already been answered here: how does the DX300 “use”/drain the separate batteries? Does it go for the digital battery first and then switch over to the analog battery after the other is drained, or is there a way to use both equally?

battery drain of either one will depend on your usage like high decoding and surfing, Netflix, etc will drain digital battery faster, whereas high gain with high impedance phones, respectively raising analogue volume will drain the analogue one more...

Idling drains D exclusively, leading to 96%A and 70%D, which makes it hard to charge effectively.

that's potentially worth to be addressed as improvement like power safe mode when idling?Idling drains D exclusively, leading to 96%A and 70%D, which makes it hard to charge effectively.
Not sure though if that is like a standard Android behaviour for any device by default...
Speaking of power safe mode: I don't have my DX300 yet but maybe there are some (hidden) additional power safe options inside Android 9?
Eventually inside of the developer options?

That's why I have been turning it off when I don't need to use it. I am glad the processing chips this time are fast enough to not make this too much of a trouble every time I turn the device on again.

Quick question for DX300 owners, have you encountered any difficulties feeding the DX300 as a source to an external DAC? I have been trying to do so through my ifi IDSD BL via USB and Mango app would not let any music through. Just pure silence. Not sure what I did wrong or the device just doesnt support iFi product, etc....

I wanted to test that too, references of successful connections can be found in @twister6 review:Quick question for DX300 owners, have you encountered any difficulties feeding the DX300 as a source to an external DAC? M8 is the only one I haven't tried, but maybe Vince (@Whitigir ) can chime in with comparison. If I remember correctly, he had it for a short while before selling it off rather quickly. Heard from a number of my readers they like the sound because of its warm sound tuning, but get frustrated with snapdragon 430 and Android 7 sluggish performance.

I've heard it, and frankly regardless of the sound the processor performance was unacceptable.get frustrated with snapdragon 430 and Android 7 sluggish performance.
If you look back on this thread there is a video of someone showing the speed of the M8 as being good - which actually illustrates the pain.
I have found that turning off WiFi and/or putting it in airplane mode when I’m not using it significantly curbs digital battery drain. Probably not surprising. That's why I have been turning it off when I don't need to use it. I would say that MKII is on par to M8 but much faster in UI and a little different in sound signatures. Both is still warmth and I posted it previously in the last long impressionsM8 is the only one I haven't tried, but maybe Vince (@Whitigir ) can chime in with comparison. I sold the M8 because I did not really need another DAP where as my C9 was looking for a dedicated LO. It was a trade actually, and honestly, the Dx300 with modular designs and the possibility to modify it with LO module is what I am looking forward to more than just having another DAP. I liked M8 very much, but on the same time I also want something that I can carry around and powerful to drive 800s, so I have C9.

My one and only real complaint with the dx300 is ibasso's horrible music database management. Files that were easily listed correctly by my Sony and fiio daps are "unknown" to the ibasso. Willing to live with it given the sound quality and hope that ibasso figures this one out
