Just received my DX300 on Friday from
@Andrew DiMarcangelo...shameless plug for Andrew and Bloom Audio if you haven’t given them a shot yet. Best customer service in the biz.
I don’t have a lot more insight to add than what has already been discussed, but wanted to share my early impressions, which are versus the DX227:
-just on user experience overall, this is worth the upgrade for me personally; screen is gorgeous, and it’s super fast; the 227 feels slow and clunky in comparison (as one would expect)
-no issues loading Tidal or AmazonHD; everything loads very quickly, including album art, etc; no issues with WiFi dropping, etc.
-the 300 is big, obviosuly. Pic below is next to my 12 Pro. I put the 300 in my pocket for a walk yesterday, and I would say it just about hits the upper limit of my tolerance
-I’ve noticed that I’m able to listen at slightly lower volume levels versus the 227 (adjusted for the different volume scales); for example, with the set-up below, i would have volume on the 227 at ~130, versus 70 on the 300 (if you adjust, like-for-like would imply something more like 85 on the 300)
-from a SQ perspective, it’s pretty early yet, but I would say the most notable differences versus the 227 to my ears are a much wider stage, along with more forward and much better articulated mids/vocals; I’m sure I’ll notice differences in bass and treble, and other technicalities, as I listen more
