Also - dead quiet with my IE800S at Medium Gain. Running both headphones with 4.4mm balanced cables. This is just excellent.

Wish tap to wake worked. Also, missing Airplay. I thought all DAP had Airplay these days.
Well you could try an Android app with airplay receiver capabilities. (Finding a good one might be tricky tho)

I wonder who we should talke to about apps that do not support the full capabilities like mqa, sample en bit rate.
Id love for the Roon app to support them but should Ibasso fix issues or should the app maker?
Ibasso did not advocate some system wide full capability playback so i guess the apps need an update?

What screen protector are you using ? That look to fit a lot better than the stock in manh pictures ?
Actually I am still using the stock that come with the packaging.. btw I got 2 pcs come in the box.. I dont think the other one is for back, since the temper is not bend in the edge..

So no one can compare it with MAX in detail?
Will get my DX300 today...Am though not a good reviewer 😉
First reference point: twisters review of It07 iems, last page.
Regardless of that I personally expect (need to be verified in practice)
- slightly different (a bit warmer vs reference) tuning for dx300
- faster gui
- potentially less hiss and more bass impact for low impedance iems like Andromedas (to be verified)
- less output power but might be still sufficient for high impedance phones
- additional 2.5mm balanced port
- more portable, lighter
- less dsd decoding specs
- capable of Multimedia operation like YouTube, Netflix, etc (wouldn't ever use Max for that)
- more reliable and stronger wifi and Bluetooth due to different casing (and different hardware there?)

Pretty nice combo. Credit card sized piece of plastic for scale.

How is the sound ? Any improvements from the 300 ?

At the risk of angering the crowd... Listening through Utopia, I'd buy the Cayin C9 and use a dragonfly as a source if I had to save dx300 money...

But I suspect I just like the coloration/synergy of the C9 + Utopia.

I thought the difference was particularly obvious in the Tidal track "Rewrite The Stars". I normally prefer the reimagined version with James Arthur and Anne Marie, but with the C9 I almost prefer the original. Zac Efron and Zendaya sound amazing.

The good thing is that the 300 use digital volume, and does not disable it in line out mode. Some players disable it (just means max volume out). That gives many people the idea that the line out is done right aka bypassing the internal amp, and many is mistaken to take Ibasso Dx220 or 300 to not be bypassing the internal Amp.

In fact, Dx150/200/220/300 are all having internal amp bypassed with line out

So stacking up like pictures above is very nice, just use the volume control on the 300 instead and choose a fixed comfortable volume from the C9 and leave it there. It is recommended by any DAC-IC makers to be using %75 or higher in digital volumes for the best SNR and Dynamic range. However, the synergies will also matter.

Hmm I was using volume control on the C9... The DX300 was set to line out and 100.

Thanks for the info though - I was assuming that the line out might have been affected by the internal amp...
