hey guys,

would appreciate some advice, please. I recently bought DX300 on head along with the AMP12. Now I'm running with Andro 2020 (with ALO ref 8 cable - 2.5mm), but need to buy a 2.5mm to 4.4.mm adapter to use it with the AMP12.

May I please ask:

1. Does using an adapter effect the sound quality (for the worse)?
2. Can you recommend a good adapter - I was thinking about this: https://www.ddhifi.com/productinfo/917912.html

Thanks so much

E

Just ordered the caps, a total of £3.01p not bad considering the price we pay for cable and tips to try and improve our sonic experience :gs1000smile:

I'll let you know how I get on and how they affect my gear (after a little burn in?), using Sony ier z1r mainly but still like to pop in my Shure se846 from time to time.
This to me was the cheapest biggest upgrade :)
Especially if you can do it yourself.
Although silver solder wasn't cheap at all 🙄

1/ the more the elements are involved, the more the sounds are degraded

2/ best adaptor are those with quality Jack and plugs, thinking of Furutech and Pentaconn and so on, with quality wires internally and they aren’t cheap.

In the end , it is your ears that matters. If it doesn’t bother you and sound great without any degradations, then go for it. I usually go for adapter as a mean for practicalities and conveniences. I rather do straight cables instead

@ Paul: I also installed the new firmware. When I quickly increase or decrease the volume, the shutdown / restart display sometimes appears and the device automatically restarts. After that I had a bootloop every now and then. If I operate the volume wheel slowly, the above has not yet happened. I am sure this was not the case with firmware 1.02

I'm also on 1.03.24 and get frequent crashes of Spotify and Neutron player, and some spontaneous reboots. I can't say for sure how much it's different from the previous firmware. I haven't always found the 220 and the 300 to be the most robust of players.
@paul.ibasso.com
FW 1.03.241
This is interesting as I am having the same issues with random crashes and boot loops. I noticed it happening before the FW update and I did mention in previous posts but was told it was something to do with touching the volume wheel after using it, it would happen more often when the dx300 was in my pocket and strangely enough if I used a 3rd party case but now it is doing it randomly even without a case on and when sat on my desk. Like gohome77 and netwiz it just randomly shuts down sometimes it stays shut then other times it boots up and sometimes the occasional loop boots. It does not feel like a temperature problem as the player does not feel hot during or after a crash. Does not matter what software player I am using or what file type I am playing. Was meant to chase this up but have been caught up in getting the DX300Maxx and then the excitement with the DX300Maxx TI so completely forgot until I read the above posts. I hope there is an easy fix as apart from that it is a fantastic player.

IMO, if you want to use the pairing for quite some time, reter (change) the jack from 2.5 to 4.4 is the best option.
for me, I recommend adapter from CEMA, their build quality is very decent, good material...

Alright family ! Presenting to you is Amp12W

“clarification” W mod stands for “Whitigir mod”. It is a simplified acoustic tuning based on my references of experiences and using HD800S as a mark of references.

Anyone who has adequate DIY skills should be able to realize the parts being used.

The target is to further the dynamic delivery, imaging, textures and staging from the already excellent stock Amp12 for the Dx300. Also slightly balanced out the mid and the warmth of bass a touches

No plan to EX as this is as good, simple, affordable as is

Anyone in USA would like to give this an audition, feel free to PM me, just pay for shipping. I am fine with 1 week period

Cheers! Enjoy music !

BLOODY HELLL...

what poison mixed is this... ?
No EX planning.. WHY>> ????
hahaha.. Anyway... seem I see the component used... Interesting...

4 X Elna Silmic II 47uf 10v
1 x Elna Silmic II 22uf 35V
1 x Elna Cerefine 100uf 10v
4 x Nichicon SW 47uf 10V

Everything else is stock! SS47 Oyaide for solder

Sorry need to repost this, so I know where to find, if I get curious ... hehehe

Hi I'm using this one:
https://ibasso.com/product/ca04/
Actually when i firstly used it with the amp11.2 it sounded better for me than straight from the 2.5 mm.

I can advice against a DJ44AR. It broke fairly quick for me. (as in the 2.5mm insert became too loose and sometimes it would lose contact)
Then i bought a Cayin one and that one still going strong https://www.aliexpress.com/i/4000272084336.html

Thanks!! How was the sound quality with - DDhifi we’re using rhodium plates compared to their standard adapters, which is supposed to give a clearer signal?

Fortunately, I have no problems with the DDhifi one. I also have the Cayin but use the DDhifi adapter more frequently because it is smaller.

Re the adapter making a difference to sound quality, I've never heard a difference personally. But then I also can't hear the difference between lots of things that other people say they can hear. My approach is generally to try something cheap and if it works for me I don't need to go expensive. If it doesn't work I've not lost much and at least I know that paying more is worth it.

@Paul - iBasso
Short story is: I tried and failed. Questions to iBasso did not get answered so I'm basically stuck.
Why don't you answer Davy's questions, and so we can fully enjoy one of the best apps (UAPP) in one of the best DAPs (DX300)?

The questions have been answered. Maybe something was lost in translation. But we are working on a solution. It will take around 1 month as the OS has to have some major changes.

I guess we can wait 1 month.. for a (major) change :)
