Reading the latest firmware comments with interest. I've been trying to decide whether to keep the DX320 I received as a gift. It seems the latest firmware affects utimate mode, but having googled this mode (I haven't used the device yet) it only seems to show up on results relating to the 320 Max Ti. Is this the case and I don't have to worry about this issue on the regular DX320?
I somehow managed to get the player up and running again, still on the current 2.02 firmware. I’m going to leave it be and use it without ultimate mode until such time as iBasso (hopefully) issue a new firmware that fixes the issue. Not taking any more chances of potentially bricking the unit.
To go into a recovery mode you have the DX300MAX or DX320MAX off. You hold the side forward button and plug in the USB C that is already plugged into a computer or a charger. This will take you to the Recovery Menu. You can then use the forward side button or the back button and navigate to the Wipe data/factory reset. Once there, you push the power button and it will do the reset. This is a little more of a deep factory reset than using the Android factory reset when the player is on.

I am again looking into the issue of the degradation of the sound with the ultimate mode. The problem is, we haven't been able to duplicate it. We do not get the same degrading of the sound but we are trying to find out why there would be an issue with this.

Hey Paul, thanks for commenting on this, much appreciated. The issue is very easy to hear when toggling ultimate mode on and off, as several users here have experienced. It would be surprising if it didn’t affect all units? In any case, I’m thankful that you’re looking into this and sincerely hope that it can be resolved with a firmware update.
Agree with @MatW - thanks for the feedback and for looking into this again @Paul - iBasso
Fortunately I did not need to go into the Android recovery mode. I had both chargers in for a couple of hours, then unplugged, and I held down a combination of buttons for around 20-30s (can't remember exactly which now but think it was "power" and "next"). It started up and is working fine now.
In terms of not being able to replicate the issue, maybe there is something in common with the impacted devices? Are there any details, logs, or configurations we can share that would help the team investigating?
I bought mine second hand. It was already upgraded to Android 11 and had firmware 2.01. I upgraded to 2.02 via OTA when it became available. I use UAPP, Tidal, and recently also Mango Player (all exhibit the issue when Ultimate mode is engaged). I use only the 4.4mm headphone out. Rest of the apps are pretty standard other than using Nova launcher.
I done the update via OTA as well, on the latest firmware while playing music, switching on / off ultimate mode affect the sound directly, as if the cymbals suddenly has lower sound and lack of dynamics when ultimate mode turned on.

Suspect it’s got to do with the issue raised over the last few months of ultimate mode not working properly (degraded sound) which would tie into it not getting hot.
Does anyone know why Amazon music is only played at 48khz even the source says 192? Is this limited by android? I thought ibasso player has a way around it. Thank you!

Can you comment on this please Paul? Several of us have raised the issue regarding Ultimate Mode but you have gone quiet for one reason or another?
The official Mango music player (in android mode) seems to be the only player that sounds good on the Dx300max lately. Are they using some kind of dsp thing that makes the playback more warmer and darker? (if so I don't care if it's not bit perfect, cause it sounds very nice)
Or have the other player lost compatibility and it is not a dsp thing. So a bunch of artifacts are being introduced?
On neutron player and UAPP, music is etched sounding and colder. And even more compressed with less layering and dynamics to things.
