At this point I think I'm done with battery testing. Still fascinated with finding a perfect balance of sound quality vs maximized battery time.

So, under the same test conditions as before, keeping it consistent while using iems, bal out, low gain, wifi/bt off, playing flac in a loop, and Ultimate On, I was able to get 9.5hrs of play time once I dropped digital volume down to 70/100. Disabling Ultimate mode gives you approximately another 5hrs of playback time.

Oohhh woaaa, that is significant!! Literally %50 more juices. To get more than that probably will need to get it thicker and have larger batteries packs

Hi guys,

quick question: is the LO balanced only (when, e.g., connecting to active speakers' RCA) or can the system tell if it's a single-ended connection and switch accordingly in the 3Max? If not, I'm guessing one can then use the directional converter provided with the pack to connect to single-ended active speakers via the LO?

Thanks

It has the option like the 2Max, this cables is to be used from 4.4 Lo into 3.5 Aux in

This cables simply has the L- and R- shorted together or so it seems, but to be safe, only use the cables provided, and or ask to buy a longer one from Ibasso. The way I take it is that 3-2Max has it own differential stages to pull balanced signals into SE but, it is always better be safe

Many thanks @Whitigir, helpful as always.
So, to be clear (as I don't have the 2Max): I can hook up the the 3.5mm (male) end in the LO and the RCA end of the cable into the SE active speakers and, in theory at least, acc. to iBasso, it will pull balanced signals into SE? Whereas the 4.4mm to 3.5mm cable is for connecting PO to AUX?

No, you plug the 4.4mm into the LO and then use that 3.5mm to plug into Aux in. If you do not have Aux input, you can buy a dongle of 3.5mm female out into RCA and connect that way

Only 50 odd hours burn in, but I feel 70/100 is too low - I'm comfortable at around 80, but would love to hit 70 and give myself more volume headroom. Ultimate however is a big difference in sound, it probably should remain on.

Sound wise, I'm leaning to @tawmizzzz that the lower treble is a bit hot - I'm hoping that does smooth out because otherwise I find the sound utterly brilliant and engaging.

Tell me more about these differences !! Don’t have the 3Max, so I need as much info as I can to quench my thirst

If anyone missed out on a 3Max and wants mine shoot me a PM, figured I’d post here first before it hits classifieds. As amazing as the sound is I can’t get used to the form factor anymore. I definitely prefer the r2r sound too.

thanks
Oh man, really ? So the N6ii really get you that much
